Uncommitted RHP Marco Martinez was another huge contributor out of the bullpen. He worked 25.2 IP and struck out 31 while walking only 4. He recorded the final six outs in the district championship on Sunday.

Uncommitted IF Randy Steen has had a phenomenal year. He is hitting .357 (74-207), with 6 doubles, 4 triples and 7 HR. He has 51 RBI and scored 55 runs. He has also stolen 25 bags.

He will be an asset to any program next year.

Uncommitted RHP Collin McLaughlin has been dominant out of the bullpen. He has thrown 28.2 innings and allowed only 15 hits while striking out 40. Yesterday, he entered the game in the 4th inning and exited after the final out in the 9th. He is a true competitor.

Uncommitted C Josearmando Diaz continues to rake. For the season he is hitting .490 (72-147). He has 9 doubles, 3 triples and 8 HR. He has driven in 52 and scored 56. He has also walked more than twice as many times as he has struck out.....and he is a left-hand hitter.

It’s a scary proposition when those who have not played the game are not only the caretakers but also the majority influence on how the game will look in the future. Guys like Mattingly and Bowa don’t need the game at this point. The game as I once knew it NEEDS THEM!
