@GavinCarlsonDB He overestimated how good the Euros are. They were basically pros right? Look at the Mara hype. None of the Euros have made an impact. Berke seems like the best of the bunch. Vide could be good if he could make a shot and get out of Mick's doghouse.
@BruinSource My only worry is that Mick, like Howland, seems like he scares the living sh@t out of his players. Other than Mack and Bona, the other guys look terrified of making a mistake. I don't think Illane has put up a shot yet.
@BruinSource Shooting is so much more fun than the rest of basketball yet we have so many players who cannot do it, or are scared to do it. Everybody but Lazar, Mack and Bona look terrified to shoot. That fear is on Mick.
@GavinCarlsonDB My two questions: Why are the Euros so ineffective? Weren't they basically pros overseas? Why don't we recruit shooters? Real shooters. Dead eye spot up shooters.
@_ToddBeane Gotta look at the whole point of college soccer which is to give players a chance to play while they get their education. Right? Does bringing in 23-25 year old international ex pros contribute to that goal? It doesn't. We pay them to take spots from American teenagers.
@Don_K_Williams Look into this guy. Seton Hall. My son played him three years ago in the first round of the NCAAs, which would make him 25 at that point: https://t.co/x7v5QXxZrg
@JogoNoBonito Yea, look at his rosters at UNH. What do you notice? Old European players. He's the Jay Vidovich of his conference. We'll see if he does the same thing at NC State.
@Chris_M_Cousins@SRUSA_Official You guys rule. Thanks. I think there's a lot of frustration with the unfair advantage these international players have (real or perceived) over domestic kids when it comes to soccer scholarships and roster spots.
@ImCollegeSoccer Yep. Follow the money. We are the only country that does stuff against our self interest. Hey, we need to produce better soccer players, let's clog all the avenues for improvement with ex-pros from other countries. Great idea. Let's do it! The NCAA is absurd.
@USLTactics I don't get this. It seems like every USL team completely revamps their roster every single year. Top scorers, huge minutes guys, fan favorites, all get dumped. Any insight on why that is? Seems like a really nomadic existence for the players.
@SoccerMomInt Nobody is hating. They're pointing out how unfair it is for non-Americans to play professional soccer for several years before coming to the US to play college soccer and compete against 18-year olds.
@Chris_M_Cousins Hey Chris, any details on what the NCAA is doing to fix this? We need age limits and limits on number of non-domestic players at the very least. The way it is is horrible for American kids and for American player development.
@LVHoosierGK Ah. Okay. I didn't get the part where internationals were granted in state tuition. That seems odd doesn't it? Wonder what the motivation is for granting Eurpeans and South Americans resident status. Also explains why Florida unis are chock full of 25 year old Europeans.
