Game Publishers and Mobile Platform treat non-gacha/loot-box/service-based games like a live concert. Customers buy them, experience them once, because most of them don't survive mobile OS upgrades. Unlike consoles, most of them can't be played decades later.
Ive been working on a guide for writing Dependable C that you may find useful if you want to write portable C that can be compiled and understood by the the widest possible audience. You can find it at https://t.co/7aDVsmyecm
I remember thinking this post was too spicy, because of all the hate it got. I felt a bit ashamed.
But reading it back again... I was incredibly concilliatory and generous.
I think the lesson is: never self-reflect again.

I consider myself a senior dev, and unlike most junior developers in my career, I have to spend more of my time babysitting these so-called frontier models, like https://t.co/TF7FtlXkdS's GLM-5.2 or Tencent's latest hy3.
I thought the promise was that the latest models have PhD-level intelligence, like a senior dev, etc.
Junior dev learns, improvises, and gets better.
@kamentrader , dulu di awal 2000-an banyak yg punya visi-misi dengan IT kita bisa menghubungkan langsung antara petani dan konsumen. Tengkulak akan lenyap.
Narator: a few moments later...
Startup yang membuat sistem IT tersebut mau ga mau menjadi tengkulak.
In SMT: Persona 3, there's a mechanic that pushes the player to move forward through the Tartarus dungeons. I just realized that if a player stays still for too long in a level, Death arrives.
Another classic Arcade game design implemented in a JRPG.
CEOs manage through meetings. Effective CEOs don't meet the same person 15 times a day. Even effective CEOs in small 5-person startups never let themselves be interrupted by programmers 15 times a day.
They plan and organize the work and then delegate. They also develop people and replace non-performing ones.
No sane CEO persists in developing non-performing people, e.g., those who need perpetual babysitting to deliver good-enough performance.
This is what happens when you become a CEO, the "cognitive load time density" goes way up: when every lower-level task is done by some[thing] else, all that remain are the high-level tasks. The stakes are higher, data is incomplete, and the options are ambiguous.
Most people are not equipped for this. There's a reason CEOs all have these crazy exercise and meditation lifestyles: they are optimized to provide a physical and therapeutic base to allow for sustained cognitive output and decision-making willpower.
Someone who wants to move to the next stage of productivity through vibecoding without burning out within a few months will need to re-engineer their life.
(Remember: it's only been a few months since the models became good enough to code! It happened in ~December!)
this dynamic is really crazy right now
even things for building other things are getting wrapped with another layer trying to be the access point
everyone is flailing, full of anxiety, zero restraint
oprekan hari ini yang ngabisin setengah jatah grok di hermes sebelum akhirnya ganti ke glm 5.1 dari opencode go (bukan yang lagi jalan di GPU)
