First of all, congratulations on your recent achievement with SpaceX IPO and I wish you continued success. The world is watching history being made.

Please, as one of your first act as the first modern trillionaire of our time, I am writing a simple request on behalf of the children in my community. I live in a low income neighborhood in Nigeria, Ogun state to be precise where hundreds of children spend their days moving between school and home with nothing else in between. There are no playgrounds, no safe recreational spaces, no sports facilities, and no extracurricular activities to help them discover their talents, build friendships, or simply enjoy being children.

As their third-term vacation approaches, I cannot stop thinking about them. Especially as their peers all over the world are really excited and planning their summer holidays with vacations, sport programs and outdoor activities Meanwhile, many of the children here will spend their holiday exactly as they spend every other day indoors, confined to small spaces, watching life pass them by. We are currently in hard times and parents are doing their best to survive and this leave little to no spaces for children in lower income families to enjoy the small things in life.

But children should not have to be wealthy to have happy memories.

Behind our residential area sits an empty piece of land. When I look at it, I don’t see an abandoned lot. I see a playground filled with laughter. I see swings, slides, football games, children making friends, mothers sitting outside enjoying fresh air, and families gathering in a safe environment without having to spend a single naira.

I used grok to design a mockup of what the park can look like and estimates are between #20m to #30m ($15k to $23k) to achieve this. Mr Musk, you would be changing the lives of hundred of children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to these types of amenities.

I also call on well-meaning Nigerians, philanthropists, organizations, and anyone who believes every child deserves a safe place to play to join us in making this happen. Years from now, the children won’t totally remember the struggles of living here, but they will remember and cherish all the precious memories made.

Please, help me give them these memories. Thank you.
