Accra needs an overhaul planning and government must do whatever it takes to correct the ‘abnormal’ settlement system. If multiple building would have to do down, the government should get the balls and do it!
We don’t need concrete coverings, we need the metal ones that allows the rains drain out and we need to punish people that dump waste into our drainages
For the first time, I honestly don’t feel like saying much.
After the rains, flooding is almost expected. That’s how normal it has become.
The sad part is that for many of us, it’s the same story we’ve been seeing for more than a decade now. Every rainy season comes with the same concerns, the same flooded roads, the same stranded residents, and the same questions.
At some point, you run out of words and are left wondering why the story never seems to change.
This is just the bird, the rope, the tortoise and the hunter story.
Areas in Accra that have never flooded before were submerged last night. May not be today, may not be tomorrow, but eventually… bad planning and corrupt leadership will bring rain water to your doorstep.
Our grandparents complained,
Our parents complained,
We are complaining
Our children must not complain.
Let us break the cycle, ghana needs consequences for poor governance.
In the middle of editing this video I realized I can remodel this map and turn it into a "best places to live to avoid flooding in Accra" map. @shaunnarmah you game?
One by one the flood issue is getting to everyone… and until young people demand accountability, our children will come witness same same energy… now let’s close our mouths and wait for the next tragedy 💔💔
“It’s a discipline problem.”The funniest part is blaming citizens as if leaders exist for fun.If people litter, enforce the laws.If drains are inadequate, fix them.If buildings block waterways, demolish them. Accra floods every year, but accountability remains drought-stricken.
