What happened during Day 1 of Stray Kids’ RUN IT Tour in Japan is absolutely unacceptable.

This was an outdoor stadium performance in heavy rain, and footage from the concert shows a stage that was not simply “a little wet.” There were visible puddles and large sections of the stage appeared completely soaked.

At least FOUR Stray Kids members were seen or reported falling during the performance:

• Lee Know reportedly fell twice, with some STAYs in attendance saying he remained down after hitting his head and unmoving for a concerning amount of time. He was later seen attempting to ride a scooter and appeared to be struggling to move normally.

• Felix, who has a documented history of back injury, fell and appeared to land hard on his arm/side.

• Changbin’s feet slid out from underneath him and he landed on his arm while trying to catch himself.

• Bang Chan fell and injured his arm badly enough that he was seen using his own shirt on stage to wrap the injured area and stop the bleeding.

And yet, in the same footage, you can clearly see cameras, monitors and other equipment protected from the rain with plastic.

So equipment could be protected from the weather, but the stage the ARTISTS WERE RUNNING AND DANCING ON could not be kept reasonably dry?

Stray Kids perform incredibly physical choreography. They run across massive stages, move quickly between markings, jump, turn and execute choreography that requires stability and precise footing. A stage covered in standing water creates an obvious safety hazard.

And this does not only concern Stray Kids.

Their dancers were performing on that exact same stage. Most audience footage naturally focuses on the members, so we have no way of knowing whether members of the dance team also slipped, fell or were injured outside what happened to be captured in fancams.

Rain at an outdoor concert is sometimes unavoidable.

Allowing performers to repeatedly run and dance across a stage with visible standing water is another matter entirely.

There should have been an adequate safety plan in place to continuously remove standing water and address dangerous sections of the stage. If conditions reached a point where that could not be done safely, the performance should have been paused until they could.

No concert is worth an artist, dancer or crew member suffering a serious or potentially career-altering injury.

We sincerely hope Lee Know, Felix, Changbin and Bang Chan are okay.

And to every member, we are begging you: please take care of yourselves and each other.

We all know how much you love performing. We know how much you love being on stage for STAY, and we know you will push yourselves to keep going even when you are hurting.

But please understand that STAY would rather see a performance stopped, delayed or even canceled than watch any of you risk being seriously injured.

No stage, no concert and no performance is more important than your safety and health.

We can always have another concert.

We cannot replace you. Please be safe.
