@SimonFraser00@dsmitheconomics He (and most of the British establishment) all had something to say about George Floyd…much of which probably sounded pretty “divisive” from a Republican perspective.
@willsolfiac You are, of course, absolutely right. I am concerned though that the result of this policy (to the benefit of women and their children) will simply be further downward pressure on the birth rate (to the detriment of society as a whole) as the men become even more non-committal.
@ScottGoetz_ Disagree…Reform don’t have the oldest generation of Tories nor younger affluent Tories in London/SE. The first especially is a big issue as older voters difficult to budge. However tweedy shire types elsewhere are very RW in their attitudes and (anecdotally) pro-Reform.
@Steven_Swinford Trouble is that an asset loses its value due to inflation and it is clearly unfair to tax a loss. Solution is to equalise with income tax but have an equalisation allowance- might result in actually less CGT being collected though.
@dcsandbrook@TheRestHistory Nothing on Gorlice Tarnow and the great Russian retreat on the Eastern Front (arguably the most consequential event in 1915)?
@PJTheEconomist Bit of a local question (but possibly pertinent to the Makerfield by election)- why has there been a noticeable change in Wigan since this percentage peaked in circa 2020?
