I think the work of journalism is fulfilling and important, which is why I've continued to do it, despite the state of our industry. I just wish there were more reasons to be optimistic about its future long-term.
Tomorrow is, unfortunately, my last day at The Denver Post, after my job was eliminated along with those of two editors and others in a layoff.

I was laid off from my first newspaper job in 2019. At my second job, I was furloughed and saw other positions be cut during the pandemic. And at my last job, by the time I left, the newsroom was a fraction of the size it was when I started.
