@offenton72800@The_One1001@satnam6502 Make decent EVs at home. The cars will all be electric. That’s, like, inevitable. The collective west can get on with the program, or lose car manufacturing to China.
@despair_chan А що, у Європи є ракети і дрони у товарних кількостях? Це новина, насправді. І хіба умовні німці не вважають масово що воюють тільки лошари, а вони радісно заплатять податки Маскві, і будуть далі пити своє пиво?
@offenton72800@The_One1001@satnam6502 An electric car is much simpler than an ICE one. Like, obviously. Battery, motor, wheels. You close the circuit, it goes. A modern turbo engine with a 28-speed automatic gearbox… good luck popping that. (The engine requires more software to manage it too.)
@Never_Hedgee@eric23332@deanwball Right. We can’t scale the grid quickly. Turbines, permits, interconnects, transmission lines — everything takes multiple years. This is a sad fact. The notion that we don’t need to seems… Suspicious.
@deanwball US companies believe they are in a race to build god. In such a race you obviously go all out with money/scaling/whatever. It’s unclear that LLMs will yield AGI, so this can easily be an enormous bubble.
@RLHeinrichs Those are sweet words, the problem is that they are empty. US is both not willing and not capable of providing any security guarantees to Ukraine. As an example of actual policy: allowing Russians to sell their oil strengthens Russia, not Ukraine.
@ShimazuSystems@atmoio For them to be worth the $1,000,000,000,000, they need to make, like, $50,000,000,000. Every year. How much of that can you pay them?
@Maks_NAFO_FELLA He’s lying. :) building out the industrial capacity for this would be quite noticeable and bombable by both Russians and Americans. So no, it’s not easy.
@AndreasShrugged What can Ukraine actually do to reliably dissuade Russia from blowing up electrical transformers and generators? Extracting a cost by sending a few small drones here and there does not seem to do it. :(
@RyanO_ChosenCoy@James32815789 Does US still have a lot of leverage over Ukraine? I’d expect the Europeans to be able to do this — they are the ones financing Ukraine right now…
@teortaxesTex Notably, Iran appears to be winning the war. Oblivious to sanctions or infrastructure mythosing, or killing of the guy in the biggest turban. And no, US can’t realistically nuke it enough to win the war.
@atmoio@DanielMiessler Now, importantly, LLMs are definitely not AGI. They can’t replace you at work. But people are working on making a better mousetrap, and one day they might succeed at building software that can fully replace humans at all jobs. That is legit scary.
@atmoio@DanielMiessler A camera does not have to be an atom-by-atom exact copy of an eye to replace an eye is some (or all) contexts. Intelligence is the same, it’s not metaphysical. For now human brain is as general of an intelligence as we’ve seen, but we might be able to build a better one.
