@WG_RumblePants I'd have been just to the left of the people in deck chairs, on top of the Gilligan Stand. I'd just finished my A levels and spent the summer on the dole, watching a lot of cricket, before starting work. Sussex were pretty awful in the CC that year but did well in the JPL
@ArthurPDen52570@hellothisisivan I have a copy of Defoe's Journal of the Plague Year inscribed to Eva from Uncle Jack in 1911. I wonder how her life turned out
@NoContextCounty Murray Goodwin hitting a 4 down to long leg to give Sussex their first ever Championship. Champagne in the stands and for the batters. SBTS over the speakers and I remembered my dad, who'd have loved it
@TouchlineX That's not true. If it was "Only six teams have played in every PL season and not been relegated", it would be. But that's not what was said. As it was written, Brighton and Brentford have never been relegated.
@PictureSporting It's not lost though, it's still there, just not used for county cricket. Now, Hastings, there's a Sussex ground that's really been lost
@lining_laura@joey_hann@its_The_Dr Rugby refs do. I fully expect that every time I carry out a nail check before a women/girls match there will be someone whose nails need clipping. If I'm reffing a female game, I'll always carry some, most refs I know do
@WG_RumblePants It's a lovely ground to play on, but given its location, there is always a decent crowd watching you - it's not the place to drop a goober.
@ChrisJG06@WG_RumblePants If Stokes has had enough, I'd pick Simpson as a stopgap captain, until Brooks is up for it ( don't think he's ready yet). Simpson won't go on for years but he's transformed Sussex and would be just the person to pull England together.
Just received my latest copy of County Cricket Matters - a great read, as always. Thank you @AnnieChave. Perhaps the travails of England in Australia should remind us of the importance of red ball cricket.
@MattOakleyMojo It really bugged me that they didn't give us the answer to that question. I'd have said 14, but it could have been 15 (if you count Hamlet's dad). But someone on another group said it should be people who died on-stage, in which it's 9. It was a terrible question to ask
Here's a paradox, as the world gets more and more connected, it's getting harder to contact people. Companies make it ever harder for customers to get in touch but @Aegon take it to the limit - no email address, no phone number. You have to do better than that
@ZoharAtkins@gregorykennedy It's a great quote but it was from Shelley's In Defence of Poetry, not by Keats.
It will be good to see more companies acknowledge the worth of content providers
