LIFE UPDATE: I'm back in the news business! Today is my first day as a producer at @GrayDCnews. Excited to cover Congress and all things Washington for Gray's stations across the country.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court holds that the Fourteenth Amendment protects birthright citizenship, blocking Donald Trump's executive order to end it.
Roberts has the opinion for the court, which is 5-4 on the constitutional question and 6-3 on whether federal law protects birthright citizenship.
Ted Lieu (D-CA) on the Supreme Court upholding birthright citizenship:
"relieved and very happy" and notes none of the people with him on stage would have been able to vote at the inception of our country
Johnson told reporters moments ago he is NOW transmitting the Housing bill to Trump
So this morning Chairwoman McClain was either knowingly wrong, or the GOP Conference Chair didn't know the status of a major bipartisan bill
GOP Chairwoman McClain confirmed to me this morning the housing bill *IS* on the President's desk and will pass in 10 (now 9ish) days
The clock only starts if Johnson/leadership officially send it, which McClain's answer indicates has happened

Several House Freedom Caucus members, led by SC GOP Rep. @RepRalphNorman, are holding a press conference calling on the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act. @GrayDCnews
Yesterday, President Trump canceled a bill signing for a bipartisan housing bill and says he won’t sign it unless Congress pass the SAVE America Act. He’s also demanded Congress attach the bill to FISA legislation. It’s also paralyzing the House floor.
The bill, which is a top priority of @POTUS, has stalled in the Senate. It’s doesn’t have the 60 votes necessary to break a Democratic-led filibuster. Some Republican Senators also question whether it has 50 votes, regardless of the filibuster.
President Trump was set to sign the bill today, but changed his mind announcing he would not sign the bill until Congress passes SAVE America Act. Members of both parties say that bill, which would overhaul election laws, does not have the votes in the Senate. @GrayDCnews
A large group of Senate and House Democrats, led by Senate Minority Leader @SenSchumer, are holding a press conference blasting @POTUS for refusing to sign a bipartisan housing affordability bill into law.

Several Senate Democrats, led by Michigan Sen. @SenatorSlotkin, are holding a press conference today on legislation that would prohibit President Trump from sending troops or federal law enforcement to the polls. @GrayDCnews
The Protect Our Polls Act would require President Trump get congressional approval to send troops to polls, cuts off funding for uniformed military and federal law enforcement to seize ballots/voting machines, and it protects service members from following illegal orders.
