@x3troC@B30_603@JimmytPow@mhdksafa Is that why China does literally whatever it wants to you whenever it wants and laughs in your faces about it? Build dams, take your territory, whatever
@x3troC@B30_603@JimmytPow@mhdksafa They were looking to trade. That's why Europeans set up trading posts like Goa, Pondicherry, Pulicat, etc. They thought it'd be like China. The fact a trading company managed to accidentally conquer the entire subcontinent is really just hilariously embarrassing for Indians
@VICE883@Nobodyydobon67@fossymossy1 Major news networks depicted Republicans as blue and Democrats as red from the advent of televised elections until the 2000 election
@RagingKoeri@Twoogulite@EchoesofEmpire_ They were actually ten thousand times worse than the Soviets... at effecting genocide against ethnic minorities. Ask the Ukrainians, or the Poles, or the Tatars
@akumagyaru@agalwaybird@CartisMyMommy@s_mayta@TheAlexSylvian They are inextricably linked. The reason the Germans were halted and began to be pushed back by 1943 was because the Soviets not only defended, they successfully exploited the gaps in German lines via mobility. Without American materiel and supplies, their combat strategy fails
@akumagyaru@agalwaybird@CartisMyMommy@s_mayta@TheAlexSylvian Soviet offensive capability from 42 on was deeply dependent on American aid. Without that aid, their supply chain just about fails, they can't exploit gaps in German lines, they can't move their troops effectively, and their numerical advantage is negated. Baku would have fallen.
@akumagyaru@agalwaybird@CartisMyMommy@s_mayta@TheAlexSylvian The Soviets had an enormous amount of support from the Americans and still lost 27 million people (demographic losses they never recovered from). They would not have survived without aid, let alone won. They lose Stalingrad, and from that a win becomes totally impossible.
@DerekDimore@Peosss439@Shaggnar@MoldyDolphin@Ruair01524482 It's all completely true. Ireland had some cultural products, but that's it. And so many of their best and brightest came from the Protestant Ascendancy. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so deeply tragic
@DerekDimore@Peosss439@Shaggnar@MoldyDolphin@Ruair01524482 Ireland was poor and undeveloped for the entirety of its existence until it became a tax sink. Before a Norman ever set foot there, it was poorer, less urbanised, and generally undeveloped compared to its regional neighbours. There's a reason the Romans didn't bother to invade
@DerekDimore@Peosss439@Shaggnar@MoldyDolphin@Ruair01524482 You're dishonestly (unsurprising given the Irish third worldist propensity for lies, terrorism, and self-victimisation) referring to crown dependencies, in which UK law does not apply. Ireland's growth has only come from speaking English and being the chief global tax leach
@Ruair01524482@Peosss439@Shaggnar@MoldyDolphin What do you mean remove FDI? How can you remove the impacts of FDI and being a tax-haven? Could you remove FDI from China's growth? Tax black holes like Ireland actively harm large developed economies where these companies would normally operate. Evidently Irish schools are pish
@Ruair01524482@Peosss439@Shaggnar@MoldyDolphin Except that wealth was built by being the most flagrant tax leech the world over. Why do you think they used the terms PIIGS (Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and Spain)? Ireland without tax fuckery is effectively Afghanistan with worse food and worse weather.
