The Cass Truckload Linehaul Index for May represented a third consecutive all-time record. “With strong freight demand and ongoing supply constraints in both of the critical components of trucking capacity (drivers and tractors), the trend” should remain up, Cass says.

The Cass Truckload Linehaul Index, measuring per-mile linehaul rates, had 7.3% y/y increase in January. “With additional federal stimulus likely to drive more consumer spending; lean inventories; and a long backlog of ships at U.S. ports,” Cass expects continued improvements.
