My take on the end-of-life conversion statements from the Dilbert comic strip creator, published today on The Dispatch. Lots of comments at the bottom! https://t.co/sFp7kUAUJw

The Cass Truckload Linehaul Index for May represented a third consecutive all-time record. “With strong freight demand and ongoing supply constraints in both of the critical components of trucking capacity (drivers and tractors), the trend” should remain up, Cass says.
Widely varying factors, including drug clearinghouse and increase in driver retirements, account for shrinking driver availability, which is a big factor in current freight market, Cass Info Systems says. Graphic from ACT Research. (Green months indicate March.)
Cass Information's data through April points to continuing boom for truckload, citing "strong freight demand and major supply constraints in both of the critical components of trucking capacity – drivers and tractors."
Wondering about all the recent spat of driver pay hikes? This graph from Cass Info Systems, citing ACT Research and measuring driver availability, says a lot about suppy and demand. And how trucking rebounded quickly from the pandemic lockdowns. Green lines are March data.
Cass notes significant restraints on capacity: drivers and trucks. Driver demographics are tightening, and the economic stimulus will add more competition for drivers as parts shortages limit truck production. With a positive demand outlook, the index is expected to keep rising.

Don’t miss “Overdrive’s Music to Truck By,” streaming 10 am to noon EST Friday on https://t.co/Evi2sCfT0j. In addition to new and classic trucking songs, Host Big Al Weekley will also pay tribute to singer Patsy Cline, who died in a plane crash 58 years ago this Friday.
The Cass Truckload Linehaul Index, measuring per-mile linehaul rates, had 7.3% y/y increase in January. “With additional federal stimulus likely to drive more consumer spending; lean inventories; and a long backlog of ships at U.S. ports,” Cass expects continued improvements.

Another sign that "surge in consumer-based freight continues to strain capacity and boost freight rates," says FTR: Preliminary U.S. net trailer orders for October set an all-time record at 56,500 units, up 68% y/y. Most for delivery in second half 2021.
A prayer for a new president. A hope for a fresh start for the church’s approach to partisanship. And a question for Trump-supporting Christians. Were they comparing Trump to the wrong king? https://t.co/6pI04Y02ry
