Post-doctoral research fellow: University of Plymouth focusing on plastic pollution from source to fate. Director of Indonesia Unwrapped | A Plastic Paradise.
Was such an inspiring day at the #FutureFibresNetworkPlus Townhall event today. Started with how clothing fibres "leak" into the natural world, then the impacts on animals (Inc. marine iguanas & 🦈) then onto innovative solutions on how we can make fashion more sustainable.
Great to kick off the @futurefibrnplus at the @DesignMuseum in London last week. Privilege to be invited as a speaker and sit on the panel, representing @PlymUni.
The @UKRI_News funded project aims to embed environmental science into the heart of the fashion and textile industry
Great to have another chapter from my PhD published in Carbohydrate Polymers! Developing novel bioimaging methods and identifying new enzyme targets to make your clothes look newer for longer by reducing fibrous bobbles or 'pills'

Brilliant attendance and discussion at our @PlymUni side event yesterday during the UN plastic treaty negotiations in Ottawa. With over 100 participants covering 30 countries. Delegates listen and engaged with our expert panel on all things alternatives and substitutes to plastic
Team @PlymUni are now complete at INC4 with the arrival of @ParkerJurd Outside the Shaw Centre where the first plenary session started today. Incredible installation from @thevonwong, a powerful message: we need to turn the tap off if we stand a chance in ending plastic pollution
The official start of #INC4 is approaching quickly.

@EBarrowclift PhD project investigates genetic structure & life history of Devil rays in the Indian Ocean to inform policy and conservation. Important research given the dire status of elasmobranchs (33% Threatened of 1200 assessed species) and Endangered status of devil rays.
The boys are back in town! WP2 field teams including @mr_cordova, @maxkelly99, and @madeoka_ have started their beach surveys this week quantifying the different types of plastic pollution to understand the movement of waste from source to sea.
