Taiwan policy is a total time-warp. It’s not the 1970s any more. “One China” policies were for a time when Taipei claimed the right to rule the whole of China, and it was necessary to decide who could legitimately make that claim. Most countries chose Beijing. That’s what “One China” means. But Taiwan completely abandoned this claim a long time ago, and even made constitutional amendments to underline it. Why, then, do we persist with these policies as if the political reality is unchanged? “One China” policies are obsolete, and the ambiguity they create is a moving target for Beijing’s grey zone activity. We should junk them and develop something fit for purpose. We cannot hope to deter Beijing’s ambitions unless we are clearer on what Taiwan is, and what our consequent red-lines should be. @FreddyLim
Dutch intelligence with an in-depth warning about Chinese EVs. Follows today's MI5 warning. Europe's security services are screaming from the rooftops about the threat from Beijing while governments sit on their hands.
Yes. Those #CCP agents are intimidating Anti-CCP protesters in DC. It is transnational repression. Collect their photos. Their masks won't protect them. Report them to FBI.
🚨 One week from today, Xi Jinping arrives in Washington, DC.
@POTUS must condemn the recent sentencing of #HongKong Tiananmen vigil leaders Chow Hang-tung, Lee Cheuk-yan and Albert Ho, and call for their immediate and unconditional release.

I hope people see in this photo what Hongkongers mean when we say “never forget.”
