@alex_verem In Italy, University has always been about oral exams and written tasks in classroom under surveillance.
30 years ago (when attending my courses) I thought that was outdated compared to e.g., US; now it seems we've been always right...
@darowla@topapate 3/3 I'd like to remember everyone that MAME is a project born almost 40 years ago with the scope of PRESERVING arcade games. The information provided by MAME are the result of YEARS of study on the original machines.
@MontyEngland1@PixelCNinja A core of an arcade game which has the 'right' fpga implementation of all of its chips except for a 'rare' sprite generator not yet decapped but re-created with AI using MAME as a reference is still hardware emulation and will act as such, no input lag, accurate timing, etc.
@SuperhadoukenX@topapate Moreover, the arcade PCBs are becoming difficult to find year by year. No way we're going to get all the games covered by MAME in 30 years
@SuperhadoukenX@topapate If at least 30 people in the world were actively working like Jotego, I would agree with you. But in the real world the people capable and willing to do it with access to original hardware can be counted on one hand.
@SuperhadoukenX@topapate In the future, some of the few people in the world capable of decapping chips and read inside those might still be able toupgrade the missing chips...These new A.I. assiated cores are working very well and have all the pros of an FPGA implementation vs. software emulation,
