Man some of the stuff in Anthropic's IPO S-1 is wild...
'sufficiently advanced systems could
discover methods of transmitting information, matter or autonomous systems backward in time, potentially
allowing future AI systems to influence events preceding their own creation.'
The only thing frontier labs should be improving is coding abilities. If you make RSI it’ll just build out the other capabilities for you. Why waste time making a shitty version of a scientific research model when a ASI coding model could one shot it in a week?
It’s becoming ridiculously obvious that Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol absolutely destroy Opus and Fable in real-world tasks.
The only areas where Anthropic still has an edge are frontend taste and 3D game design.
But Tech Twitter is full of developers who think coding is the entire universe of AI. It’s not even close.
AI is so much bigger than writing code.
I think it's more likely that this Tibo tweet is actually referring to the fact that they bought https://t.co/X8rHNdB9Jx
go look for yourself, its not grok bot anymore...
I dug into the GPT-6.5 tease on the opensilol domain. The site really does hide “6.5” and a Nov 1 countdown in its HTML.
But a Sept 23 archive called the same domain an “independent OpenAI parody” for sale.
I’d take it with a grain of salt, but who knows.
If I were OpenAI I would release Terra-6.1 to bait the Anthropic counter then the next day drop Astra 6.5.
And I would make sure Astra 6.5 was SOTA by FAR
I don't see Deepseek getting in trouble for distillation.
OpenAI might allow the distillation for the revenue it generates, because that's an obvious win for them, but also because it keeps China in the race.
Not to diminish China's ability to cook themselves but the longer they compete the longer the frontier closed labs can push the race narrative to the united states government.
Sure OpenAI and Anthropic are in a "race" but the bigger and more politicized race, and the one which has fended off government regulation is "USA vs China."
If China falls behind then regulation might bring a screeching halt to OpenAI.
