Indians will almost always choose the cheaper Chinese alternative rather than build the same items at home. That preference shows up clearly in the trade numbers. India currently runs a goods trade deficit of over $100 billion with China. Yet a noticeable section of Indian public opinion complains far more about America than about the country that actually runs a massive, structural trade surplus against India and supplies most of the cheap components Indian manufacturers rely on.
