Why do we talk to unconscious patients?
1. Respect
2. Humanize care
3. Comfort
4. Hearing may be preserved
5. Assuage fears
6. Keep them informed of what’s happening
7. Warn them when touched for the purposes of care
Patients are always people.

Wonderful session on community engagement at #gatcon! Loved learning about @OnceUponAGene - an engaging podcast for families of children with rare syndromes, & “beads of courage” - providing a bead for every blood draw, poke, medical session. @gatlinburgcon@uclachildneuro
When you’re weekend discharging a toddler with new seizures & no prior auth, & are told that rectal diazepam (the safety med to stop prolonged seizures) costs $700+ in a dose safe for children (10mg), but only $40 for the adult dosing (20mg). We need to change the system
Here is the very last of the puppet-driven #medsongs videos.
"Prior Auth"

Inspired by the amazing work and collaboration from clinicians, industry, academic researchers, & most of all, families. Honored to have been a part of the @angelman Syndrome Foundation / @dup15q re-United conference @ShafaliJeste@vvf_vanessa#Austin
