I ship small Mac apps with AI agents and share what actually works.
→ Tidzy: find any file by what's in it
→ Copse: Mac fastest clipboard
Engineer @crowdlinker
introducing tidzy 🎉
you never remember what a file is called.
you remember what was in it.
so that's how tidzy searches:
"wifi password" → the screenshot from march
"pdfs from gmail last week" → right there
"boarding pass" → even if it's eticket_83920.pdf
it reads the text in every screenshot, photo and pdf on your mac, and you can copy it straight out.
all on-device. nothing leaves your mac.
live today 👇
I stopped opening Finder.
Tidzy replaces it on my Mac:
→ Every file sorted by what it is
→ Search the text inside screenshots, photos and PDFs
→ Ask in plain English: “invoice from gmail last week”
→ Clean up in one click
→ Undo anything
@ghz86 no fastlane, just a few plain scripts. one builds and codesigns the app, one runs notarytool and staples, one makes the dmg, and a release script ties them together. it all runs on the command line tools
my agent's first suggestion for my mac app was "install xcode".
i said no.
two mac apps shipped since then without opening xcode once. swiftpm, command line tools and one build script.
@artizdat honestly, that’s the gap. i’m not keeping dsyms yet. the plan is to save them with every release and run atos, which comes with the command line tools too. good catch 🙏
@sainotsoai same, that’s the part i was dreading too. turns out it’s all just terminal: codesign with the developer id cert, then xcrun notarytool submit and stapler staple. both come with the command line tools, so xcode never had to open. the dmg goes through the same steps
@soltwagner Tidzy. it’s a smarter Mac finder: search inside your files, screenshots and pdfs included. “pdfs from gmail last week” just works, all on your mac

the most useful file in my mac app's repo isn't code.
it's DECISIONS.md.
every call we've already made, with the reason. when the agent suggests something we ruled out, it reads the file and drops it.
I've never posted on X before. Never felt the need.
But today I'm sharing my experience with Tidzy, a Mac app that finds any file by what's inside it. It saved me potentially lakhs and hours of stress, so it's worth talking about.
Here's my story 🧵👇
