They don't speak Kannada in Karnataka, Tamil in Tamil Nadu, Telugu in Telangana or Bangla in West Bengal. They all speak either Hindi or English.
Just saying!!!
In the SBI video, the bank manager proclaims, 'This is India, ' while the disgruntled customer sticks to his 'this is Karnataka, so Kannada' argument. The customer is wrong on three fronts. Constitution. Geography. Common sense. SBI should close his account for misbehaviour.
@braddy_Codie05 Is the NH44 highway open and civil traffic allowed to move ? Can & should people attempt to leave Jammu and move towards Chandigarh or Delhi ?
*Unsought advice from a well-wisher*
Having completely disengaged myself from electoral politics over a year ago, I find myself in a strange place on the day of the results. It is very similar to watching the final of the Cricket ODI World Cup for old times' sake rather than passion for the sport. From this distance, the post-match analysis sounds rather overbearing and forced. The media has actively enabled a mass addiction to hasty explanations among news consumers rather than teaching them to allow the dust to settle before things can be understood better. But if we were to investigate the rise and fall in BJP’s fortunes in the long-term, from the 1980s to the 2020s, some core features have endured the test of time and are not subject to the mood swings of a whimsical electorate. The most important among them is the RSS.
The BJP is never alone when in power, for the RSS stands firmly behind it. BJP stands for realpolitik, RSS for ideological orientation. BJP is the brain, RSS is the heart. BJP is strategy, RSS is passion. BJP is slogans, RSS is outreach. The two sustain each other in a sort of political symbiosis. When RSS dominates, BJP drifts towards Hindutva; when BJP dominates, RSS drifts towards sloganeering. Any shift beyond the natural equilibrium pushes the relationship away from symbiosis towards parasitism and leaves Hindu society exposed to existential threats. In the last term, the balance went completely towards the BJP, rendering RSS as nothing more than the proverbial Yes-man.
Of course, we know that RSS is not exactly a think-tank and operates more from feeling than thought, and when stripped of its natural agency, the organisation’s intellectual deficit shines through in a magnificent incoherence expressed through embarrassing phrases like same DNA, casteless society, and good old Hindu unity. We cannot expect RSS to become a think tank but we can gently remind the BJP leadership that the RSS cadre consists of hundreds of thousands of ordinary well-meaning Hindus motivated by a strong will to serve the Hindu Dharma. And it is these ordinary Hindus who convert fence-sitters around them to voters. Much to the disappointment of data scientists, it is impossible to measure and regulate this impact. In other words, the role of RSS leadership is managerial - they manage the alliance with BJP and inspire their cadre to do the legwork. On the other hand, BJP’s karyakartas are not driven by the same passion as RSS, though they may work harder for self-interest. BJP is a strict hierarchy, RSS is more like a network. BJP applies power, RSS influence. It is in the best interest of everyone concerned to fix the relationship issues between the leadership of BJP and RSS, which can only happen by not stepping on each other’s toes.
Most importantly, RSS must leave Hindus alone to practice their religion as opposed to using them as Guinea pigs in grand social engineering experiments fuelled by subaltern fantasies. True, most Hindus may not recognise that they’re being used as Guinea pigs and so that may not affect BJP’s electoral prospects directly but let’s just say that RSS would be biting more than they can chew and would not be able to control the outcomes of these chaotic experiments. It would be much wiser to focus on their core strength, that of using their influence on the government to enable conditions that allow Dharma to flourish on its terms. Just as RSS got the credit for the demolition of Babri Masjid by thousands of unaffiliated or loosely affiliated Kar Sevaks, benefits will accrue to them (and BJP) spontaneously if only they become enablers rather than headmasters.
The 2024 election results are perhaps the best outcome the party could have gotten because it gives the BJP and RSS an opportunity for self-reflection and course correction. Call it a blessing in disguise. The road ahead forks into two mutually exclusive paths. One towards naked Ambedkarism and the other towards a genuine resurgence of Hindu Dharma. For what it's worth, I urge the powers that be to take the road less travelled. See you in 2029.
