It's inspiring to see the Indian Supreme Court take a moral stance, arguing "the court should sometimes rise above the law". It was making a case for a Dalit student who passed the demanding IIT admission test, but had a credit card default in paying the test fee.

Contrary to what some critics say, not everything is downhill with India's economy. There's evidence that the rich are becoming richer & stock markets are booming. The segment suffering are farmers, small businesses & the working class. Poverty is rising like rarely seen before.

Defenders of monetization are right in saying govt assets are being leased, not sold (like renting a home). But when govt is close to the pvt buyers, the outcome is worse. It's effectively selling at the price of renting. That's how the Russian oligarchs stripped state assets.
