My school is teaching phonics and some parents HATE it. But we’re teaching kids a reliable strategy to read and write words they haven’t seen before. It’s hard; I didn’t learn this way myself. But it’s working.

and PHONICS. nobody teaches phonics anymore just memorization of sight words. the core of any type of education is the ability to problem solve bc even if you dont know how to do something you can always figure it out. if you dont learn letter sounds and diagraphs, you don’t actually know how to read.

@goooeypup Idk the answer for sure, but my dogs are really bad about barking really loudly when they hear someone in the hallway. I hate it, so I’m going to get someone to knock on my door and give them treats when they stay quiet to train them against it.
