Last night I surrendered my phone and signed a waiver. And then I sat with a small group and an Israeli military attaché and we watched the 45 minute compilation of Hamas videos from October 7th.

I have to say something right now because I won’t be able to live with myself if I don’t. For years, I spoke up for the people of Palestine and their right to self-determination and to live in peace. For years, nobody cared. For years, Iranians have spoken up against their terrorism and brutality at the hands of the IRGC. For years, nobody cared. For years I had felt we shared the same unnerving struggle, which is the world’s indifference to the loss of our lives. Over the past week, however, I’ve seen something that I’m ashamed to say I had never seen before and I can’t believe what it took for me to see it. When Jews are murdered, the world is not just indifferent. Instead, the world rejoices. It celebrates. This is a type of depravity no people should ever have to endure, especially given the barbaric history of persecution since time immemorial. To the Jewish community, you are my brothers and sisters. I am so sorry that I let you down. I am so sorry that you screamed about it for years and I didn’t hear you. I am so sorry I didn’t stand up with you. I am so sorry I pretended not to see the flagrant and hateful anti-semitism. But my eyes are open and I see you now. I hear you. I’m with you, and I promise to never let you down again.
Hamas’s surprise terrorist attack by air, land, and sea is Israel’s 9/11. Losing 600 Israelis is the equivalent of losing about 20,000 Americans.
If you murder, wound, rape, and abduct civilians and children, as Hamas has done, you are not a militant. You are a terrorist. The media should stop sanitizing terrorists as “militants.”
Hamas is a terrorist organization, just like the Taliban and Al-Qaeda are terrorist organizations. Back in 2001, no one in the mainstream media described the attackers on 9/11 as militants.
This morning, a woman in my district who teaches at Oxford messaged me saying she and her colleagues who survived the shooting "need to do something more tangible than cry." Because if we continue to do nothing, this will keep happening, again and again and again and again.

This was a motel a couple months ago in @LongBeachCity. Could have been repurposed as short-term housing, or rebuilt as market-rate housing. Instead it's a parking lot. When your elected officials say they are worried about the housing crisis they are full of shit @RobertGarcia
Just because they do not pass the litmus test of your progressivism does not mean they are not progressive.
If saying that CHILDREN shouldn’t have to spend the night in bomb shelters - regardless of what side - is not progressive then what is???
It’s sad that most people don’t even care that deeply about issues or don’t know much about issues but get socially pressured into posting.
It spreads bias, misinformation, and narratives rather than facts.
Make that Twitter too. There are human lives on each side of the conflict. Be respectful instead of posting more polarizing things on your social media.
