1050 to 700 BCE. From the Maya site Aguada Fenix, below is the earliest known example of Mesoamerican directional color symbolism, a motif that would later appear in Maya cosmograms, associating the cardinal directions of the world with the elements encoded in the color: Blue azurite pigment was placed at the north; green malachite to the east; and yellow ochre containing goethite to the south.
@BetterParties Agreed, so much has been lost. Especially screenfold books...the Codexes...10s of 1000s of them lost.
I'm convinced every Maya city had a "library" of books.
Thank you for your continued interest! 👍♥️
Mr. C. Some background on Apocalyto:
I believe Arthur Demarest and Richard Branson were the experts who helped Mel make Apocalypto. I’ve shared dinner with Authur, and Richard came to my hotel room in 2007 (during the 2007 Maya Global Symposium) to share some brews while looking at the latest, most up to date “blueprint” of the Copan Ruins, given to me by Fernando Rodriguez, a Honduran archeologist, whom once came to stay at my home near Philly.
At a UPenn Maya Symposium, right after Apocalyto was released, a man in the audience stood up and started screaming, pointing, veins bulging in anger about the horrendous wrongs that were in the film. I was stunned. Hollywood, even back then, hated Gibson, because Gibson was wise to Hollywood’s pedophilia. So the sheeple Dems follow Hollywood’s narrative, don’t care about the rampant pedos, only to wrongfully turn on Gibson. Apocalypto was deserving of Academy Awards, for the realistic costume, and especially the genius of hiring actual Maya descendants, whose spoken words were translated using close captioning. The movie is a masterpiece. The Left despises Mel Gibson.
BTW: @privGibson is only a commentary account. It’s not the real Mel, otherwise, I’d be a Follower!
Don’t worry guys.
It’s totally normal for the no-name candidate deep in 3rd place to give a tear-filled concession speech on election night and then miraculously receive almost every Democrat vote in the 2 weeks after the election to defeat the most charismatic Republican candidate in decades.
Just another “safe and secure” election in LA.
This country has been running on fraud. For decades.
Election fraud. Immigration fraud. Financial fraud.
Fraud of every kind.
It all has to end or our country is finished.
Years ago, I studied this book. It's very good.
Book Overview
The first-ever popular "decoding" of the whole grand scheme of ancient Maya spirituality, The Shaman's Secret makes these spiritual teachings explicit and accessible to the general readership and shows how to integrate elements of this spiritual system into daily life. The author specifically examines and explains the Maya spiritual view of the cosmos; their myths and legends; attitudes toward death, suffering and joy; the Path of Beauty; their insights into love, sacrifice and ecstasy, and the attainment of eternal life. He also presents their compelling view of imminent changes in the millennium. Within each chapter, the author includes direct quotes and retellings of the ancient Maya myths, reflects on the encoded messages of sculptures, ruins, ceramics, and paintings, and compares and contrasts this spirituality with the Judeo-Christian spirituality and other world traditions. The Shaman's Secret offers ways to embrace Maya mythic systems to help readers further their own spirituality, and broaden and deepen their experience of spiritual ecstasy.
@LivingExtraord1 It is. You’ll empty your highlighter! You’ll run out of Post-its! This book, along with “Sastun,” are two of my favorites when it comes to Maya shaman insights.
