everyone in my book club is 10-20 years older than me and it is the first time in my life i have ever felt like. genuinely under-read (maybe not a word but whatever the opposite of well-read is lol) and i knowww it's not even possible for me to have read as many books BUT STILL
sometimes you read a book and you can just tell that an author put SO much love and care and time and energy and research into it, and they must have felt so compelled to tell THIS story and wanted so desperately to get it right as they saw it in their head
@mochimags actually about using ‘said’ vs another word but instead about the function of a dialogue tag and how you’re trying to utilize that space to work for you in your writing
@mochimags i mean i think it comes down to two points, which are a) it’s simply not as important in fanfic as it is in ofic/litfic bc of the style in which most fanfic is written and a less rigorous editing process, and b) most people having the conversation don’t understand that it’s not +
ahhh thank youuu!! i love writing gojo oblivious it's so funny to me i'm just cracking myself up as i write
i read some atsuomi and liked it! but i didn't, like, imprint in the same way i did with krkn. however comma i always say i'll write p much any ship if an idea sparks!!
specifically for dialogue tagging – you can use said! do not be afraid to use said! it’s a word that the brain skips over when reading, so it’s fine to use. i think the times when it feels repetitive are when the cadence isn’t changing at all in the conversation.
i touched on it very briefly when i did a thread about dialogue (i'll link it below) but i could def go more in depth about how to work dialogue in more seamlessly and why it matters so give me a bit and i'll gather some more thoughts!
oooh i have not seen happy together! chungking express has been on my list forever but yk how it goes the list is long and my friends don't like foreign film as much as i do 😭 i will add this tho for my solo watch parties! and i'm with you on david lynch's dune!!
@kkyufm oh INCREDIBLE list. mine is diary of a teenage girl, clueless, the worst person in the world, and an icelandic movie i'm not going to name bc it's niche enough combined w the others that i might as well just link my letterboxd account with my full name and dox myself lol
i always give him fast and furious bc i think it’s funny to make geto a pretentious film bro and gojo just a fan of action/fast cars but i’m curious abt everyone’s opinions
