@NENowNews How much lower will the tangkhul and Meitei people stay? they shamelessly denied their actions. After killing our pastors, our people and kidnapping them. Now they burn down our villages again!

Where is the government?
Where is justice?
Today in Imphal, protests involving sections of Kacha Naga and Meitei groups have raised serious concerns among many communities regarding the growing alliance between radical elements and armed groups. Reports and public narratives suggesting cooperation between NSCN Eastern Flank, NSCN-IM, and ZUF Kamson groups alongside Meitei organisations have created fear and tension across the region.
Many people are now questioning who continues to fuel violence in Manipur through the supply of sophisticated weapons, ammunition, RPGs, and drone technology that are repeatedly seen during conflicts and attacks against civilians.
The people of Nagaland and peace-loving Naga communities across different districts must remain alert and cautious against any attempt to spread hatred, communal division, and instability in the name of identity politics. Peace, coexistence, and mutual respect among communities must not be destroyed by violence and extremist agendas.
The future of the Northeast should be built on peace, justice, and unity — not on fear, armed intimidation, and communal conflict.

A KSO executive in Ukhrul breaks down the chronology of incidents taking place in Ukhrul, all of which are supported by documented records and witnessed by credible individuals. She explains how certain Tangkhul groups in the region seek to capitalize on even minor road mishaps and turn them into broader communal conflicts. At the same time, it is important to acknowledge that there are peace-loving Tangkhul individuals who stand for truth and reconciliation, working to mediate escalating tensions but are sidelined and threatened by them.
Radical Tangkhul groups are exploiting the ongoing Meitei-Kuki conflict to pursue their long-standing ambition of taking over Kuki-inhabited ancestral lands through constant intimidation including intermittent firing from nearby Tangkhul villages toward Kuki villages to force them out. All these tensions were inflamed from the drunken brawl involving few Kuki-Tangkhul drunk individuals that took place in the Litan-Sareikhong area, which they used to revive and intensify long-standing hostilities between the Tangkhul and Kuki communities.

An earnest appeal is being made to the United Naga Council (UNC), Senapati District Students’ bodies, NPO, JTM, and those under the command and influence of NSCN-IM to show humanity and compassion by safely releasing our innocent Kuki civilians from Taphou Kuki Village.
These innocent men are not criminals or enemies. They are fathers, sons, brothers, hardworking daily wage earners, and some are students with dreams, responsibilities, and families depending on them. Every day they worked hard to feed their loved ones and build a better future for their families. Today, their families continue to live in unbearable fear, pain, and uncertainty, not knowing whether they are alive or dead.
Mothers cry through sleepless nights, children wait helplessly for their fathers and brothers to return home, and entire villages remain in sorrow and silence praying for their safe return. Their loved ones continue to hold democratic protests and peaceful gatherings with broken hearts, hoping that humanity and justice will prevail.
Humanity must rise above hatred and conflict. No innocent civilian or student deserves to disappear, suffer in captivity, or become a victim of communal violence and political tensions. We humbly appeal with folded hands and wounded hearts to safely and unconditionally release all innocent Kuki civilians before more pain and tragedy fall upon innocent families.
We further urge the Government of India, Central Force officials, Assam Rifles, NIA, and all concerned high authorities to immediately conduct intensive search and rescue operations in Ukhrul, Senapati, and Liangmai areas where the missing civilians are suspected to be held. Every passing day without action deepens fear, insecurity, and emotional suffering among innocent villagers and families.
The Kuki Community continues to exercise restraint and democratic protest while hoping that justice, compassion, and wisdom will prevail. However, the Kuki Community will not remain mute spectators if innocent Kuki civilians lose their lives while the authorities and responsible groups continue to remain silent.
Let peace, justice, and humanity speak louder than violence, hatred, and fear.

📍Imphal, Manipur: In the so-called Naga protest, slogans of “Long Live Manipur” were clearly heard. Tangkhuls have accepted Manipur’s integrity & moved on from the Nagalim narrative while NSCN-IM keeps misleading Nagas in Nagaland. Dear Nagas of Nagaland wake up @kewekhapetherie
A Joint Council meeting of Kuki Inpi Manipur and Civil Society Organisations in Kangpokpi has unanimously resolved to extend the ongoing total shutdown across all Kuki-Zo inhabited areas with effect from midnight of May 25. The decision was taken in protest against the killing of three Church leaders and to demand justice in the case.
The meeting also called for the immediate release of 14 Kuki individuals, alleging that they are being held hostage by Naga civil society organisations led by SDSA. According to the resolution, the shutdown will continue until those responsible for the killings are identified and brought to justice, and the detained individuals are released safely and unconditionally.
Kuki Inpi Manipur stated that essential and emergency services, including medical emergencies, healthcare services, media and security-related movements, will remain exempt from the shutdown.

The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking immediate intervention to locate and rescue civilians from Taphou Kuki Village whose whereabouts remain unknown.
In a representation submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the council stated that families and villagers continue to wait for information regarding the condition and safety of the missing civilians. It said the uncertainty surrounding the case has caused distress among community members and has led to continued protests across Kuki-Zo inhabited areas.
The council urged the Government of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Army, Assam Rifles, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and other concerned authorities to launch intensive search and rescue operations in Ukhrul, Senapati, and Liangmai areas. It stated that timely action is necessary to address public concerns and ensure the safety of those missing.
KZC also called for a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation into incidents involving civilians and community leaders. The council stressed the importance of preventing misinformation, communal targeting, and hate campaigns in order to maintain peace and coexistence among communities.
The memorandum further stated that the Kuki-Zo people seek justice, security, and the protection of innocent lives. It urged the government to ensure the safe release of all civilians, strengthen security in vulnerable areas, and take measures aimed at restoring public confidence.

Dear people of Tamenglong,
I have been telling you. The Tangkhul supremacist policy diktats have successfully imprisoned all Naga tribes through this ploy of the NSCN-IM. When they have no shame in killing and murdering their own people, why would they fear killing or attacking your innocent, unarmed civilians?
Despite the brutal and unprecedented attack on your innocent civilians today, the NSCN-IM and their stooges are taking the moral high ground.
The deliberate attacks on unarmed, innocent civilian farmers at Goitang near Khoupum in Noney District are one clear example that must be condemned by people from all walks of life. I do understand that some of your leaders have been baptized by Tangkhul militants.
If any of you still think the NSCN-IM works for so-called Pan-Naga Unification and Nagalim, hold on for a moment. Just ask Thuingaleng Muivah, the NSCN-IM Supremo, who the next leader after him will be.
He will never appoint someone from the Zeliangrong or Inpui community, or from Chandel, to replace him, no matter what talent or capabilities he or she possesses. Wake up, people of Tamenglong, Chandel, and Senapati districts.
He will only appoint or anoint someone from the Tangkhul community. In short, the NSCN-IM is just a private business firm that belongs to the Tangkhul community from Ukhrul. The rest are just customers or fodder for their business expansion.
I urge all the innocent people of Tamenglong to raise your voice and stand up against the Tangkhul NSCN-IM’s business expansion policy. A helping hand is on the way if sought wholeheartedly.
The NSCN wants war — bloodbath — death, not peaceful coexistence with anyone.

KUKI HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL

Ref. No._ KHRC/ITNE/2026/05/01 Date_ 25th May 2026
To,
The Editor / Owner,
India Today NE
*Subject: Urgent request to suspend Mr. Naorem Mohen from India Today NE for repeated communal targeting of the Kuki community.*
Respected Sir/Madam,
The Kuki Human Rights Council (KHRC) writes to formally raise concern regarding the continued publication of Mr. Naorem Mohen’s opinion pieces on India Today NE.
For the past years, Mr. Mohen has used his column to publish material that directly harms the Kuki community. His articles consistently misrepresent our history, distort relationships between Kuki clans and kindred tribes, and advance narratives aimed at dividing our people. In the context of Manipur’s ongoing humanitarian crisis since May 3, 2023, such writing has inflamed hostility and endangered public order.
This pattern of publication amounts to hate speech. It violates Article 19(2) of the Constitution of India, which places reasonable restrictions on free speech in the interest of public order, decency, and morality. It also contravenes Section 153A and Section 505 of the Indian Penal Code, which prohibit promoting enmity between groups and publishing statements conducive to public mischief. The content further breaches the Press Council of India’s Norms of Journalistic Conduct, specifically provisions on communal writings and reporting of ethnic conflicts.
India Today NE is a credible platform with a duty to maintain editorial standards and social responsibility. Providing a recurring platform to a writer whose work vilifies one ethnic community and seeks to fracture it from within undermines public trust and risks further violence in an already fragile state.
The KHRC therefore respectfully requests:

Michael Lamjathang Haokip exposed the reality of the Tronglaobi incident during his live television interview, and unfortunately, it backfired. This is nothing but a power tussle between former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh @NBirenSingh and the current Chief Minister Shri Yumnam Khemchand @YKhemchand - who really controls and who is the real boss of Manipur. He was just trying to please Nongthombam Biren Singh's @NBirenSingh camp by exposing the Manipur state security lapse and coordination gap of Yumnam Khemchand's @YKhemchand administration.
After all, Shri Yumnam Khemchand @YKhemchand is the Chief Minister. He asked the Manipur Police @manipur_police to issue a summon letter to explain why he exposed them on live television. To be honest, one Haokip is enough to create social unrest and sleepless nights within the entire Meitei community 🤣. Just imagine, we're planning to send another typical Haokip, much more capable and dependable than him. The entire 650 sq kms known as Manipur must embrace their pathetic life 🤣.
Michael Lamjathang Haokip, being a typical Haokip, blew out what he got from his sources with the help of former Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh's @NBirenSingh camp information peddlers. Unfortunately, the other camp just can't digest the truth. He's languishing in Imphal Police Station lock-up at this moment.
I just hope Michael Lamjathang Haokip is fine and doesn't divulge other information, being a trusted Kuki-Zo secret agent, where we spent lots of money and time training him.

PRESS RELEASE
The United Kuki National Army (UKNA) has taken note of credible reports and independent findings from Churachandpur district regarding serious irregularities in the distribution of rice under the NFSA and the One Nation One Ration Card System.
Investigations indicate that IDPs and common citizens have been systematically exploited by certain officials and Meitei transport contractors involved in the supply of essential food grains. This misconduct has significantly worsened the suffering of the people during an already difficult time.
The UKNA strongly condemns this blatant misuse of public resources meant for the most vulnerable sections of society.
It is imperative that all those responsible—particularly the Meitei transport contractors and officials from the CAP & PD department—be held fully accountable. A fair and transparent inquiry must be conducted, and those found guilty must be punished in accordance with the law without delay.
All individuals and entities involved are hereby directed to issue an unconditional public apology to the people of Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts through the media at the earliest, failing which strict action will be taken.
Further, any contractor continuing such practices will face a complete ban from entering Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts.
The UKNA also warns all civil society organisations and community leaders against supporting or protecting those involved. Any such assistance will invite appropriate action.
The UKNA reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the buffer-zone, rights and welfare of the Kuki-Zo people and will continue to stand with and for the people and their aspirations. Exploitation of our people will not be tolerated.

PRESS STATEMENT: CONDEMNING VIOLENCE IN MONGKOT CHEPU
Date: 24th March, 2026
The Mongkot Chepu Village Youth Club strongly condemns the shocking and inhuman act of violence carried out against innocent civilians, including school students, in Mongkot Chepu village. Today, while students were peacefully appearing for their examinations, NSCN-IM along with Tangkhul volunteers and their associates deliberately disrupted the exam and opened fire toward Kuki civilians, including children.
This act is barbaric, unacceptable, and a direct attack on innocent lives and the future of our children.
The incident has created fear and panic among students and villagers, severely disturbing the peace and normal life of the community. Targeting unarmed civilians, especially schoolchildren, shows a complete disregard for humanity and basic human rights.
It is deeply alarming that such acts continue to occur despite the presence of security forces in the region. This raises serious concerns about the safety and protection of innocent civilians and calls for immediate attention from the authorities.
The Mongkot Chepu Village Youth Club urgently appeals to the District Administration, Manipur Police, and central forces to take immediate and strict action against all those involved in this cowardly act. We demand a thorough and impartial investigation, and the swift arrest of all NSCN-IM and Tangkhul militants responsible for this violence.
The people of Mongkot Chepu deserve to live in peace and security without fear. Such acts must not be allowed to continue.
