So sad that many people won’t celebrate their 90th birthday with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, like my mom did.
My parents’s first born slept in an apple box as they couldn’t afford a crib.
When I had my first baby, we were in a small apartment overlooking a garage and couldn’t afford any luxuries like eating out. However I was overjoyed with having an adorable baby. And then two more.

A friend of mine said that we should welcome illegal immigrants, so long as they don’t live near her. She’s now a former friend. My mom used to say, you cannot argue with stupid or crazy people. Her quote is in my new book. I still try, but without success.

They were the first country to publish my book on May 25, 2020. This was during the Covid lockdown!!! I didn’t know translators and printing houses were open in other countries. That was a huge and wonderful surprise.
I also did something brave, a photoshoot during Covid in an empty Grand Central and lying down in the street of New York City as there was no traffic 🥺😂😂

My book was translated and published in The Netherlands and Belgium on June 10, 2020 during the COVID lockdown. I did some interviews virtually from my Los Angeles apartment, and one at an empty hotel with two photographers wearing masks, 6 feet away from me. As I am fluent in Afrikaans, I could converse with them, although they spoke English well.
I have wonderful memories of modeling jobs I’ve done in Amsterdam. So sad that I couldn’t go to the Netherlands or Belgium to promote my book. Those were weird times.

A fashion story, from rejection to success @XFashion
The first photo is from the @VOGUE_Germany editorial and interview in March 2019. How did I get this job, at 71? Well, in 2017 I went to Paris Fashion Week for the first time and was invited to a runway show. I lined up and spoke to two women from this magazine for about 20 minutes. When I got to the ticket checker she had my name, but I didn’t have the paper invite. Disappointed, I had to leave. When I returned to my team, I saw they had the paper invite, which said that I need to take it to the runway show. A learning experience …. However, I do think talking to these two lovely ladies while lining up, helped get me get my German book published in Germany, Switzerland, Austria on Dec 10, 2020.
Then many virtual interviews came during the Covid lockdown, using my photos. Weird times.

When I was eight years old, my family drove across the Kalahari Desert every July for three weeks, I would help with cooking. My father wanted to toughen us up, which has helped our whole lives.
Who knew, at 69, I would be a @covergirl for four years? @XFashion

In 1967, I was one of four women on the university’s table tennis first team. I would sometimes practice with the worst player in the men’s fourth team. He would always beat me as he was larger and more powerful.
Nowadays, he could’ve replaced me if he identified as a woman. That’s just not fair. Keep men out of women’s sports.
