Third “C” ... birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement. Rosa Parks’ historic bus ride started at this fountain (the spot at which de Soto watered his horses), effectively making her the “Mother” of the Civil Rights movement. #alabamahistory #gofourth

Second “C” ... Cradle of the Confederacy. After seceding from the Union, Alabama wrote a letter inviting other seceding states to Alabama. In this room, they voted to become the Confederate States of America. #alabamahistory #gofourth

First “C”: the Creek Nation. The Alabama River, which Montgomery is built on, was named by de Soto after the the Alabamu tribe. Andrew Jackson accepted Creek Nation surrender of 21 million acres at Battle of Horseshoe Bend, about 100 miles northeast of Montgomery.
