With EBT/SNAP being cut off for a lot of Americans on Nov 1st... ((with very little warning)) I decided to go with kid-friendly snacks this year to give to Trick or Treaters. And of course, still a little bit of candy.

Am worrying about the mamas with babies who're going to have to make some tough choices in the upcoming weeks to months. ((Veterans, disabled persons, people who're in between jobs or are struggling to find one to begin with too))

We're likely going to experience a rough November, especially with the holidays following behind. Without a doubt, there will be many who will have to choose food over presents this year. Absolutely no doubt about that. Some might have to choose food over gas, medicine, a bill. It's unavoidable and terrifying to think of.

It's not a lot, but if everyone helped even a little, it'd make it so much easier for those who are about to go through it.

Ways you can help:
- Donate food you don't want to pantries or join local community groups to ask if anyone needs it.
- Buy food to give to people you know are on EBT/SNAP, especially if they have children.
- Have a neighbor who lives alone and is struggling? Give them a plate of food here and there. Warm home-cooked food can heal the soul.
- Volunteer for organizations focusing on making sure people are fed.
- Some restaurants are allowing people to pre-purchase meals. Not all, but a lot are. Offer to pay for a meal ahead of time for someone who needs it.
- If you haven't gotten anything yet to give out for Halloween, if you plan on waiting by the door; Opt for snacks that kids would still enjoy, but is more beneficial than straight-up candy

I grew up on EBT/SNAP. If mom or dad missed one day of work, a bill wasn't getting paid. And would not get paid, it wasn't a threat, it was reality. Free lunch programs at school and WIC helped us so much growing up. My mom and dad ALWAYS had a job and worked 40+ hours a week. They did all they could to provide me and my brothers with as best of a childhood as they could manage. It'd still get rough, but I was grateful for the help.

Some will not be as fortunate.

Please if you see someone in need, even if you can only help a little, it's better than nothing I promise. Check up, check in, DON'T JUDGE, and help one human to another.
