Not all brain tumors are cancerous. Here’s what you should know.

A brain tumor is a growth of cells in or near the brain that can be benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Tumors can begin in the brain (primary) or spread there from cancer elsewhere in the body (metastatic).

Symptoms vary depending on the tumor’s type, size and location, but can include new or worsening headaches, nausea or vomiting, seizures, and problems with balance, speech or hearing.
