Lots of digital ink being spilled over how #Australia needs its gun ban to be more thorough. I don't see any tweets/posts (though they probably exist somewhere) from "mainstream media" or Aussie politicians talking about immigration reform.

Or why the f**k there was not a police presence at #Bondi from before the event started. How could cops have been 5 minutes away?

Or why someone who was known to have some sort of ties to an ISIS cell was allowed to own firearms or (if they were immigrants, and I don't know that) allowed to remain in Australia.

To my Australian friends: I know you don't have a Second Amendment and don't think about firearms the way many Americans do. That's fine. Have your gun conversation, your gun regulations, whatever you're gonna do as far as that goes. But do NOT let that be the only conversation, the only reforms, that come out of this.

In a sense, this may be your version of Rotherham: terrible crimes (though not over a long period of time like Rotherham) enabled by politicians and media and law enforcement who are afraid to question or criticize a particular population, or to make immigration policy less of a source of risk. (A non-violent version of this is what allowed the massive fraud in Minnesota, too.)

Arguably the single worst, most narcissistic, disgusting, unforgivable thing Trump has ever posted on social media.

He should be utterly ashamed of himself, although we all know he's incapable of feeling that emotion.

Yes, Trump always makes everything about him but this story has nothing whatsoever to do with him. It doesn't matter what you thought of Rob Reiner's politics. He was a brilliant movie-maker (director, writer, actor) and, quite the opposite of Trump, made a near-perfect statement after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

I suspect that Trump knows he f-ed up here because he's posted a whole bunch of times in the hour or so since he couldn't stop his malignant narcissist brain from hitting the "post" button.

I realize that, unfortunately, many people are past caring about this, but one should never forget that even if you like some or most of Trump's policies, he is a reprehensible human being.

Perhaps ironically, a statement like this cruel and mendacious brain-flatulence will cause some folks (maybe including me) who have been fairly ambivalent about Trump to move toward stronger opposition to him and even, for some, toward what might be called TDS.

If someone is going to have a very deep-seated opposition to Trump, even to an extent that some might call it TDS, this horrorshow of a post by this horrorshow of a man seems like a fine reason.

I do think Trump has some good policies and is doing some things I like and yet at the same time I can't wait until he's gone from the political scene. It's going to be a long three years as this man becomes more and more desperate, lashes out more and more, as he begins to lose influence over Congress and other Republicans.

It's gonna be ugly, and I fear that this is just a taste of what we're in store for.
