I’ve come to realize that when another company’s group copy a HYBE group, K-pop stans suddenly go silent or start doing mental gymnastics to explain why it’s “different.” But the moment a HYBE group has even the slightest similarity to another artist, suddenly everybody becomes a plagiarism expert and is on their ass. 😭

And this isn’t even hypothetical. Just yesterday, y’all were on LE SSERAFIM’s neck over similarities between their MV and KiiiKiii. But today, when another group is being accused of having scenes, shots, angles, styling and color grading similar to CORTIS, suddenly the narrative is “nothing is original” and “these concepts have been done before.”

Where was all this nuance YESTERDAY when you were dragging LE SSERAFIM?? 😭

The double standard when it comes to HYBE groups is insane. And I’m keeping receipts, because if CORTIS ever gets dragged in the future over some MV similarities, I better see y’all defending them with the SAME “nothing is original” argument. 😭

You want to hear a real story of what YG was doing to other idols, just to cover for BIGBANG's crimes?

When Burning Sun started breaking out - an affair of sex trafficking, sex crimes, and gang rapes happening in BIGBANG Seungri owned club started breaking out in South Korean media. The articles about Seungri were not making it to NAVER main page despite massive traction. NAVER at the time just invested nearly $100M into YG and became its 2nd largest shareholder.

In that moment, a french photographer Bernard Faucon, a friend of BIGBANG, suddenly accused BTS of plagiarizing... a table. The artist stated BTS using a banquet table in Blood Sweat & Tears must be inspired by his work - all of the sudden 2.5 years after its release.

The article with the accusation immediately landed on NAVER main page, despite having 23x less interactions and views than articles about Seungri and comments laughing the accusation off as ridiculous. It remained pinned on NAVER main page the whole day, from 10 am to 10 pm.

The photographer only days later withdrew the accusation, doing a 180° - said that he doesn't think BTS plagiared him.

Of course, the dirty move didn't stop the avalanche that came later. Later Burning Sun broke out completely to Korean public, Seungri was removed from BIGBANG, got sentenced to 3 years in jail, YG suffered wreckage of multimillion losses and withdrawal of one of their investor pillars - LVMH.

Yet, it remains an example of how YG would tear other idols apart just to protect their criminals. Not hallucinated connections, a factual one.
