It is encouraging to see the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System moving steadily from planning to implementation, with the commencement of the postcode delineation model validation exercise across the country.
As field mappers begin engaging communities and validating the digital postcode model, we are taking another important step towards delivering a smarter, more secure, and digitally enabled addressing system for every Nigerian. I commend the Postmaster General/CEO of @NipostNgn, @tola_odeyemi, and the entire NIPOST team for the dedication and professionalism they continue to demonstrate in driving this important national initiative.
Every validated address brings us closer to a future where emergency response is faster, public services are more efficient, businesses can operate with greater confidence, and innovation is powered by trusted location intelligence.
I look forward to the successful launch of the Postcode System in October and to the transformational impact it will have as another critical layer of Nigeria's Digital Public Infrastructure.
GOOD NEWS: Local sources confirmed that a Nigerian Air Force airstrike targeted a large gathering of bandits in Dogon Dawa, along the Niger–Kaduna–Zamfara border.
The strike reportedly killed numerous militants as they assembled to plan attacks. Sources also claim that over 200 motorcycles were present at the gathering.
Some survivors, reportedly wounded, fled toward the forests between Shadadi and Ma'undu via the Mangwaro axis.
Kudos to the Nigerian Air Force for their unwavering commitment to taking the fight to bandits and protecting vulnerable communities. Keep up the pressure.
TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI RESCUE ABDUCTED NECO CANDIDATES IN LASSA, INTENSIFY SEARCH FOR REMAINING VICTIM
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have rescued 10 National Examinations Council (NECO) candidates and teachers abducted during an ISWAP attack on Lassa Community in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The attack occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on Monday, 29 June 2026, while students were writing their examinations at the Technical Secondary School. Following the incident, the Theatre Command immediately deployed troops alongside strike and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft from the Air Component of OPHK to support a coordinated search and rescue operation.
Guided by aerial surveillance, troops made contact with the terrorists around Daggu, leading to a fierce firefight that resulted in the rescue of the 10 victims, all of whom were unharmed and are receiving appropriate care. Troops outmanoeuvred the fleeing terrorists, inflicted casualties on them and captured seven motorcycles, significantly disrupting their escape. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victim. Sadly, one OPHK soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force paid the supreme sacrifice during the operation.
Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders, has intensified operations against the terrorists while reinforcing security around vulnerable communities and schools to prevent similar attacks. The military described the incident as another desperate attempt by terrorist groups under sustained pressure to target soft targets but reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace across the North-East. Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant, provide credible information to security agencies and rely only on official updates regarding the incident.

Thank Kalu for this important contribution.
However permit me to state [restate] that @followlasg deserves credit for how far it has come.
Managing the waste of a city that has grown into one of Africa's largest commercial hubs is a challenge that has evolved with its population, economy and pace of urbanisation. It cannot remain an activity subject to political devices.
The systems that served yesterday have laid an important foundation. But every successful city reaches a point where yesterday's solutions are no longer enough for today's realities, tomorrow's aspirations, and indeed the future plans of an industrialised city.
That said, and to your point, If Lagos truly seeks to become a leading global mega city, waste management must evolve from a disposal service into a circular economy. Waste should be treated as a resource for recycling, energy generation, manufacturing and jobs.
This also calls for a WoG approach where waste mgt should no longer be the responsibility of one agency alone. It should be embedded in planning approvals for new estates, roads, commercial developments and public infrastructure, with clear provisions for collection, sorting, recycling and recovery built in from the design stage.
LASG should remain the regulator and standard setter, while creating room for capable private entrepreneurs, technology providers and global partners to compete, innovate and invest. Public policy should reward efficiency, environmental outcomes and value creation, not simply waste collection.
A mega city is not measured only by the size of its skyline, but by how intelligently it manages what it throws away.
Regards
One thing that has stood out to me when comparing floods in Accra and Lagos is the amount of visible refuse and clogged drains in many parts of Lagos. I wonder how much of this reflects differences in government enforcement of waste management versus differences in public attitudes toward sanitation.

INTENSIFIED PRESSURE BY OPERATION HADIN KAI LEADS TO SURRENDER OF TOP TERRORIST LEADERS AS MORE ABANDON CAMPS AMID BOOSTED OPERATIONS
The Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has continued to record significant operational successes in the ongoing counter terrorism campaign against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists through sustained operations backed by credible, timely and actionable intelligence.
In another major breakthrough, a fresh group of top ISWAP terrorist leaders have abandoned their enclaves and surrendered to troops within the North-East theatre of operations. Among those who surrendered are key members of the terrorist network due to relentless military pressure. They are currently in a secure location undergoing profiling, debriefing and other established procedures in accordance with extant operational protocols.
The development highlights the devastating impact of the sustained offensive by Operation HADIN KAI, which continues to dismantle terrorist strongholds, disrupt command and logistics structures, and deny the insurgents freedom of action across the theatre. Persistent military operations have continued to degrade the terrorists' combat capabilities while eroding confidence within their ranks and leadership. Within the last week alone, a total of 76 terrorist foot soldiers with some families surrendered to troops.
These operational gains demonstrate the effectiveness of the Nigerian military's comprehensive counter terrorism and counter insurgency strategy, combining precision combat operations, intelligence led engagements and coordinated joint efforts with partners.
Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mission to completely defeat terrorism and restore lasting peace and security across the North-East. The pressure on the remaining terrorist elements will continue unabated until they are completely neutralised or forced to surrender.

NAF Airstrike Eliminates 11 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno’s Maisani Axis
By Zagazola Makama
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has intensified its sustained air offensive against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, neutralising no fewer than 11 insurgents during a precision air interdiction mission in the Maisani general area of Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 5:30 p.m. on June 20 after credible intelligence, corroborated through persistent Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), confirmed the presence and movement of terrorist elements within the target area.
“The target was positively identified following careful surveillance and intelligence analysis. After confirming the absence of civilian presence, the aircraft engaged the location with precision-guided fire, resulting in devastating effects on the terrorists,” the sources said.
He disclosed that a post-strike Battle Damage Assessment (BDA), conducted through aerial surveillance, confirmed that at least 11 terrorists were neutralised during the strike.
The sourcss noted that the successful mission further degraded the operational capability of the insurgents operating around the Damboa axis, an area that has remained under sustained military pressure in recent weeks.
He added that the military under Operation HADIN KAI, has continued to execute intelligence-driven air operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement, destroying their hideouts and supporting ongoing ground offensives across the North-East.
One of the biggest symptom of Nigeria’s Olodo Uprising is in the stark decline in English comprehension on the internet.
The one language that we use for education X official comms - and you have so many who APPEAR to be able to read it but have limited ability to comprehend.
Security operatives have arrested ammunition supplier to bandits.
It's heartbreaking that while innocent people are being killed and displaced, others are still choosing to fuel the violence for personal gain.
May everyone enabling this bloodshed face justice.
TOP ISWAP COMMANDERS SURRENDER AS SUSTAINED MILITARY OPERATIONS IN THE NORTH-EAST REGION INTENSIFY
Sustained military offensives by the Nigerian Army Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have compelled several members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), including several top commanders, to surrender on 28 June 2026 to troops operating in the North-East theatre of operation.
It was disclosed in a military statement that the commanders abandoned their camps after weeks of coordinated air and ground operations that severely disrupted terrorist logistics, command structures, and movement corridors across the region.
The surrendered commanders are currently undergoing profiling and intelligence debriefing. Military officials described the development as a significant blow to ISWAP’s leadership and operational capability.
According to military records, no fewer than 76 terrorists and their family members have surrendered within the past week alone, underscoring the growing effectiveness of sustained military pressure, deepening internal divisions within the terrorist group, and deteriorating conditions in insurgent camps.
It is believe that intelligence being provided by the surrendered commanders will significantly enhance ongoing operations aimed at dismantling remaining terrorist enclaves, locating arms caches, disrupting supply networks, and neutralising key insurgent leaders across the North-East.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the momentum of ongoing operations under Operation Hadin Kai until lasting peace and stability are fully restored to the North East region.
Troops Neutralize Suspected ISWAP Logistics Supplier in Borno
By Zagazola Makama
Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI have neutralized a suspected logistics supplier to the Islamic State West Africa Province during a covert intelligence-led operation in Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 1:40 p.m. on Saturday following the interception of communications indicating plans to deliver supplies to ISWAP terrorists.
Acting on the intelligence, troops of the 222 Battalion, working in conjunction with local vigilantes, tracked and intercepted a male suspect carrying a sack containing suspicious items believed to be intended for the terrorists.
To confirm the suspect’s identity, troops dialed the phone number obtained from the intercepted communication. The mobile phone found in the suspect’s possession rang, confirming him as the individual linked to the planned delivery.
The suspect reportedly attempted to flee when confronted by the troops but was neutralized during the encounter.
A search of the sack revealed 74 bicycle inner tubes, 50 wristwatches and two loaves of bread, items consistent with the supplies mentioned in the intercepted communication.
Troops also recovered an Infinix Hot 20i mobile phone with the SIM card linked to the intercepted number, ₦4,100 in cash, an earpiece and a Moniepoint ATM card.
Military sources said the operation dealt another blow to ISWAP’s logistics network, which relies on civilian collaborators to transport food, communication devices and other essential supplies to fighters operating in remote enclaves.
The sources added that the morale and fighting efficiency of troops involved in the operation remain high as clearance and intelligence-driven operations continue across the North-East theatre.
