Sometimes the most difficult thing to do in life is nothing. Especially if you can do something.
Out of anger I don’t know how many tweets I have typed but end up deleting. It’s not worth it.
Just finished watching “The Herd” and honestly? I’m tired. The way Islam and Arewa keeps getting painted in the darkest light is exhausting. Yes, these things happen, but the constant one-sided portrayal isn’t helping anyone. Muslims deserve better storytelling than this.
All these hot takes about the government ‘sponsoring 700+ delegates’ are simply uninformed. Let me break it down clearly, in case you are interested in attending COP31 in 2026.
Every Nigerian who wants to participate, whether from an MDA, private sector, NGO, media, or any other category, must apply through the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC) portal.
During the application, you will provide your organization’s name, select its category (MDA, NGO, Media, Private Sector, etc.), and fill in your job title and country of operation.
You will also enter your participation details: your dates of attendance, areas of interest, and whether you intend to host a side event. If yes, you will indicate accordingly.
Next, you upload your passport bio page, a passport photograph, and a letter of introduction on your organization’s official letterhead. That is it.
The NCCC compiles all applications and forwards the names to the UNCCC. Successful applicants receive an acknowledgment letter. That acknowledgment letter is what you use to apply for the special visa required for the conference.
After that, you are on your own, find money for your flight, accommodation, feeding, and every other cost attached.
So if you are planning to attend COP31, stay informed and stay updated.
Thank you.
The Vice President, Senator @KashimSM, on Wednesday, led the Federal Government’s delegation on a condolence visit to the Minister of Environment, Mallam @BalarabeAbbas_, at his Zaria family residence in Kaduna State, to commiserate with the Lawal family over the passing of their matriarch, Hajiya Dayyabatu Lawal, at the age of 93.

FG Launch €175M EIB-Funded Climate Adaptation Project to Combat Erosion and Flooding
Today, I had the privilege of launching the Nigeria Climate Adaptation – Erosion and Watershed Project (NEWMAP-EIB) at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, a €175 million initiative in partnership with the European Investment Bank (EIB).
This project is a pivotal step in our nation’s fight against erosion, flooding, and watershed degradation, fostering climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods across 23 states.
This is a significant milestone in Nigeria’s commitment to environmental protection and climate adaptation. Building on the successes of the World Bank-supported Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP-IDA) from 2013 to 2022, which addressed gully erosion, bolstered food security, and strengthened community resilience, NEWMAP-EIB will continue this legacy.
Approved in 2020 with €175 million from the EIB, the project will unfold over five years in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Ekiti, Gombe, Imo, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Plateau, and Sokoto. It aims to combat gully erosion, safeguard farmlands and infrastructure, and enhance livelihoods through sustainable land and water management.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which champions climate-smart and resilient cities. My appreciation also goes to the Minister of Finance, the National Assembly, state governments, development partners, civil society, and community leaders for their unwavering support in making this project a reality.
One thing about Nigeria is that, no matter our political differences, we always stand united when outsiders try to attack or push an agenda against our country. Nigeria first, always. 🇳🇬

Nigeria’s security challenge is not a war of religion.
“Portraying Nigeria’s security challenges as a targeted campaign against a single religious group is a gross misrepresentation of reality.” Terrorists attack all who reject their murderous ideology—Muslims, Christians, and those of no faith alike.
Between May 2023 and Feb 2025, over 13,500 terrorists were neutralized and nearly 10,000 hostages rescued. Just last month, the top leaders of ANSARU, Al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Nigeria, were captured.
“The Nigerian story is not one of genocide or persecution, but of resilience, diversity, and a globally acknowledged commitment to peaceful coexistence.”
Christianity is neither endangered nor marginalized in Nigeria. Our nation is home to some of the world’s largest Pentecostal churches, the largest Anglican congregation, and one of the biggest Muslim communities anywhere.
Nigeria continues to export not just culture and music, but also proven frameworks for interfaith harmony, as shown when the Commonwealth Peace Prize was awarded this year to two Nigerian interfaith leaders whose work now guides all 56 Commonwealth nations.

FG Refutes False Claims of Religious Genocide in Nigeria
The Federal Government strongly condemns and categorically refutes recent allegations by certain international platforms and online influencers suggesting that terrorists operating in Nigeria are engaged in a systematic genocide against Christians. Such claims are false, baseless, despicable, and divisive.
Portraying Nigeria’s security challenges as a targeted campaign against a single religious group is a gross misrepresentation of reality.
While Nigeria, like many countries, has faced security challenges, including acts of terrorism perpetrated by criminals, couching the situation as a deliberate, systematic attack on Christians is inaccurate and harmful. It oversimplifies a complex, multifaceted security environment and plays into the hands of terrorists and criminals who seek to divide Nigerians along religious or ethnic lines.
The violent activities of terrorist groups are not confined to any particular religious or ethnic community. These criminals target all who reject their murderous ideology, regardless of faith. Muslims, Christians, and even those who do not identify with any religion have suffered at their hands.
The Federal Government remains unwavering in its commitment to completely degrading terrorist groups and securing the lives and property of all citizens, and this resolve is already yielding results. Between May 2023 and February 2025 alone, over 13,543 terrorists and criminals were neutralized and nearly 10,000 hostages rescued in multiple military operations across the country.
Only last month, the top leadership of Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina fi-Biladis Sudan - commonly known as ANSARU, Nigeria’s Al-Qaeda affiliate, was captured in a well-coordinated counter-terrorism operation. They are: Mahmud Muhammad Usman (aka Abu Bara’a/Abbas/Mukhtar), the self-styled Emir of ANSARU; and Mahmud al-Nigeri (aka Mallam Mamuda), Abu Bara’s proclaimed Chief of Staff and Deputy.
These feats underscore the determination and success of our security forces and expose as unfounded the notion that Nigeria is passively tolerating religiously motivated terrorism.
The Federal Government is steadfast in its duty to protect every Nigerian, regardless of ethnic or religious identity, and continues to work with international partners to address the global threat of terrorism.
The Nigerian Armed Forces and Police have demonstrated their commitment to accountability by conducting several court martials and prosecutions to hold their officials accountable for any misconduct. This effort underscores the importance of discipline and adherence to the rule of law within our security agencies.
Nigeria is a multi-religious state with large populations of both Christians and Muslims. We are home to one of the largest Muslim communities in the world, alongside some of the biggest Pentecostal churches and the largest Anglican congregation globally. Christianity is neither endangered nor marginalized in Nigeria.
It is doubtful that foreign interlopers into Nigeria’s affairs are aware that the current heads of both the Armed Forces and the Police Force are Christians—a fact that underscores the inclusivity of our national leadership.
In the fight against terrorism, Nigeria has made significant strides in prosecuting Boko Haram suspects. To date, we have successfully prosecuted seven batches of suspects, securing over 700 convictions. We are currently moving into our eighth prosecution cycle, further demonstrating our resolve to tackle terrorism and its sponsors.
