The Chief Economic Adviser cites American research to defend E20.
We checked it.
1️⃣ Oak Ridge tested 82 vehicles. Every one fuel-injected. Not one carbureted. Not one two-wheeler.
2️⃣ The report itself says wider-temperature testing was necessary. The reported emissions data were generated at about 24°C. Delhi in May crosses 45°C.
3️⃣ Where American researchers did test carbureted engines — generators, blowers, trimmers — NOx rose in every one. A leaf blower couldn’t be restarted. Trimmer clutches engaged on their own at idle.
4️⃣ America stopped at E15. Motorcycles are still excluded, today.
5️⃣ The article also cites ARAI. ARAI won’t publish that report. We asked. They refused under Section 8(1)(d).
India put E20 in front of 75-80 million older carbureted two-wheelers, on evidence that does not answer the question for that fleet.
A Chief Economic Adviser’s word carries weight precisely because people don’t check the sources. This time, we did.

🚨 India’s First #E20 Petrol Consumer Court Verdict
Petitioner: Dr. Premraj
3 Jun 2024: Purchased Grand Vitara Strong Hybrid
Nov 2024: Alleged engine issues after using #Ethanol E20 petrol
2025: Filed a case before the Raipur Consumer Commission
Jul 2026: Commission ordered replacement/refund, ₹1 lakh compensation & ₹10,000 litigation costs within 45 days
Delay beyond 45 days: Amount to carry 7% annual interest
Manufacturers say that it is not E20 but contaminated fuel that's damaging the engines.
But where does the contaminated fuel come from?
It comes from the ground.
Ethanol is hygroscopic in nature.
And the existing underground storage tanks were designed for conventional petrol, and not for higher ethanol blends.
In the underground tanks, ethanol absorbs moisture and the fuel gets contaminated at higher blends.
The fact is that we had no preparation for ethanol. We just heard that many countries use it, so we joined the band wagon.
No comprehensive impact analysis, no in depth studies.
Who pays for this message?
Not the policy makers.
Not the fuel owners.
Not the manufacturers.
It is the vehicle owners who will pay for this immature and unplanned roll out of ethanol blending.
News 1: Maruti Suzuki Senior executive Rahul Bharti: As a manufacturer, we have tested E10 cars, which were prevalent before 2023, on E20 fuel for all parameters, and we have not found anything of concern
News 2: Raipur District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (Additional Bench) directed Maruti Suzuki to replace the complainant's Grand Vitara, bought in 2023, with a new E20-compatible model or refund the purchase price. Customer has complained that after refuelling with E20 petrol, the vehicle stalled repeatedly, requiring multiple fuel changes, tank cleaning and frequent visits to the service centre
People are already paying almost double price for premium quality and organic food products.
But, no one should pay even single rupee extra for food or fuel just because our ministers and sarkari babu are incompetent to implement a policy and ensure quality.
IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE (VIDEO)
Media is Free to use this video as TEAM BHARAT's PRESS RELEASE!
* The Raipur Consumer Court has held that E-20 blended fuel was responsible for the damage to a Vehicle Manufactured in 2023.
*This has been the position of TEAM BHARAT, that over 80% of vehicles on Indian roads today are pre 2023 & E10-compatible hence E10 blended petrol must be available.
TEAM BHARAT therefore demands data be put out : in the past one year since the introduction of mandatory E20 blended Petrol:
1) how many vehicles have faced issues: due to adulterated fuel, or how many fuel pumps, injectors, gaskets, engines have been repaired by vehicle companies?
2) Make E10 Petrol available for E10 compliant vehicles.
We also have a solution regarding saving our foreign reserves & currency:
If E10 blended petrol is made available, the Ethanol INDIA saves, can be used in industry, thus saving foreign reserves on importing Industrial Ethanol from USA.
