उपलब्ध प्रशासनिक विवरण में छुआछूत या भेदभाव का कोई उल्लेख नहीं था। अब राहुल गांधी इसी घटना को दलित भेदभाव से जोड़कर पेश कर रहे हैं।

Sahadeva, the unsung hero of Mahabharata!

Noticed these while writing the book Geography of Mahabharata. Not many know, among Nakula and Sahadeva - the twins, Sahadeva is stronger. His military expedition to the south was the longest of all the four Pandava brothers! It took 22 months.

He traveled from Indraprastha to southwards to defeat many kingdoms in the south including Matysa where the Pandavas later lived incognito.

He used both deplomacy and tactics to win kingdoms. Surasena - Krishna's native kingdom governed by Kritavarma, Patachara, Apara Matsya, Nava Rashtra, Karusha, Nishada Bhumi, Gosringa, are among the kingdoms he defeated.

He was supported by the king of Kunti Rasthra his maternal grandfather, father of his step mother Kunti.

He also defeated Jambhaka near Charmanvati, a former enemy of Krishna.

He had to face near defeat at Mahishmati (Maheshvar city) along Narmada, due to the fire weapon (agneya astra or agni baan) expertise of its king Nila. He used deplomacy to win over the Mahishmati king.

Sahadeva then marched eastwards along Narmada to Traipuri and also the tribal population living around Dandakaranya to its north east.

This aligns with the Valmiki Ramayana identification of Dandakaranya along the Satna River (a southern tributary of Ganga flowing into Madhya Pradesh).

Sahadeva then retracted back along Narmada to its post city Bhrgukaksha (Barauch) from where he sent messengers to Lanka. This aligns with the identification of Lanka as the Bhagatrav, another sea port in an isolated island inside Narmada mouth, in the Dakshina Samudra (a term used to denote sea around Gujarat).

Sahadeva then marched southwards upto Surashtra (Surat). He sent messsngers to Bhishmaka ruling at Vidarbha capital Kundina, his son Rukmi ruling at Bhojakata and Ashmka capital Potana. These where the new kingdoms that sprang up to the south of Narmada after Rama Era, in the Pandava Era.

Sahadeva reached as south as Sanjayanti (Sanjan) and Surparaka (Sopar) near Mumbai. Some islands of Mlecchas are mentioned after this which could be the former islands that were joint to form the current Mumbai.

The remaining of his expedition potentially included some later additions:-

From Surparaka Region, Sahadeva sent messengers to southern kingdoms like Karanataka, Pandya, Kerala, Chola, Andhra, Talavana etc.

He is mentioned as sending messages to Yavana cities like Antakhi (Antioch) a Greek port city in Turkey, which is only founded by kings later to Alexander. Hence it is clearly a later addtion.

Similarly in this expedition, port cities in Kerala like Kollagiri (Ezhimala) and Muraci Pattana (Musiris) are mentioned.

Here the ancient name of Srilanka is mentioned as Tamra Dvipa ( Note, it is not mentioned as Lanka!).

Traditionally, Brahmans tied Rakhi to Kshatriyas. Sons tied Rakhi to mother. Students tied Rakhi to Guru. Wives tied Rakhi to husband.

The ritual was never gendered. It was about protection, devotion, and bond across every relationship imaginable. The "sisters only" version is a colonial-era folk reduction, not the tradition.

Calling a 2000-year-old ritual patriarchal based on a folk reduction is not feminism. It is ignorance with a blue tick.

Not surprising to find Mallu Christians readily explaining Hindu traditions and texts to Hindus - keeping up with the age-old missionary tradition, no doubt.
