They could have fled. Instead, they called for reinforcement and held the line, knowing that retreat would leave innocent villagers, families and properties exposed to the threat.

So they fought.
Ten of them never made it home.
They died defending lives. They died honouring the oath they took.
The bandits never entered that village.
