Early this morning, the BUILD America 250 Act officially passed through the House T&I Committee and on to the full House for approval. Roadway and work zone safety are key points within this Act and are consistently top of mind with transportation industry workers, partners and legislators.

#ATSSA is grateful for legislators like @RepBresnahan who work tirelessly to champion roadway safety and protect our vulnerable roadway workers with initiatives like the Preventing Roadside and Work Zone Deaths Act.

Following the record-breaking #ATSSAFlyIn26 in Washington, D.C., members of the 2025-2026 #ATSSA Leadership Academy celebrated their graduation from the program and a successful year of roadway safety education, personal and professional growth and industry excellence. Members of 2025-2026 cohort gained valuable, lifelong experience and knowledge to lead and shape the future of roadway safety.

Upon graduation, cohort member Scott Fischer also received the J. Thomas McSwain Leadership Award. This award, recognizing future association leaders, is presented annually to a member of the ATSSA Roadway Safety Leadership Academy that reflects the values of leadership and mentorship that parallel the namesake of this award, J. Thomas McSwain, past ATSSA chairman.

Day 1 of #ATSSA's 2026 Legislative Briefing & Fly-In kicked of this record-breaking event with resounding success!

As the largest Fly-In in ATSSA history, over 150 members and industry leaders, including 57 first time attendees, have gathered in Washington, D.C., to meet with their congressional leaders and staff and advocate on vital roadway safety infrastructure issues and policies.

During today's Legislative Briefing, attendees heard from government and industry leaders on a variety of roadway safety topics including @USDOTFHWA Director of Office Safety Technologies, Jessie Yung, and a Policy Panel on Work Zone Safety in the Highway Bill with Mitch Baldwin of @NAPATweets and Elisabeth Raczek of the Office of @sencortezmasto.

ATSSA’s 2025-2026 Leadership Academy cohort also had an eventful Day 1 of the 2026 Legislative Briefing & Fly-In. Along with participation in the Legislative Briefing, members had the opportunity to grow their public relations skills by participating in curated mock talk show interviews as part of ATSSA’s comprehensive media training.
