@mattyglesias@George_A_Callas i mean, it's also deficit hawks have been screaming about this since Pete Peterson, and it hasn't come true. The only constraint on spending is inflation and resource scarcity. It's never about the size of the deficit or whether we can 'afford' a program.
@DetroitOnLion i'm wondering what 'source' ai will use once the obvious disincentive to create becomes overwhelming to creators. somewhat cannibalistic, imo
@mattyglesias the interest rate is a policy choice. it's the one variable we can change. why are paying such massive returns to already wealthy bondholders?
@EvanGorelick I'm curious why there's no exploration of 'what' the national debt is in your article. it's portrayed as something vaguely negative, but the thrust of the article is how people feel about it
@GreenPlusAnE@GigachadHunterB@mattyglesias how would inflation change if existing benefit levels are kept. the 'source' of the benefit is a legal question, not a fiscal or monetary one.
@mattyglesias@aoxamaxoa i'd like to reframe the q. matt, what companies would you decline apps from if you where the Chief of Staff in a new dem administration?
