I like all kinds of topics. Basketball, economics, games, Legos, Physics problems, a well crafted story and, most of all, learning something from other people.
@SandyofCthulhu@UpdatingOnRome There’s Roman’s in age 2 now. For some reason. Late empire to counter the goths I think? Though I was under the impression these were supposed to be the Goth kingdoms that succeeded the western Roman’s circa the 6th century
@KirkSeriousFace I mean you can’t more picks out of NOP? Their owner wants to save $$ (and who wouldn’t want to save money on that dumpster fire tbh). Look what their pick this year went for…
@HCIT_TN@MichaelDavis015@MunstaMasta Well, sure, have Kareem coach him even. Just saying it might be 2 years. More complicated than regular hook. Also there's the optics. Wemby can't adopt a great's signature move and be worse at it. Wouldn't be great for his GOAT argument. So he probably will try something else
@state_secession@vintagemapstore The technology for long distance sailing hadn't been developed. Drafting, maps, navigation tools, the culture of seamanship. In fact the printing press was probably an underrated instrumental necessity. They had the industry and ability to build large ships though
@vintagemapstore Not true. They sent an expedition to try and find the source of the Nile. Failed but went south until the Sudd. They knew of Sub-Saharan Africa and China. They traded for silk for centuries by this point. Roman goods were in Scandinavia.
@sleepy_devo large % of people in 1995 wanted USAID dismantled. You think "taking care of our own first" is a new sentiment? And NATO? Every president in living memory has complained about lack of European & Canadian financial contribution to the alliance. Its cross party.
Dear Hollywood, WW2 ended 81 years ago. In stories set in rpesent day, If you are going to write characters with backstory related to the war, please make it reasonably logical. Ridiculous ties to the war for "moral clarity" pulls the audience out of our suspense of disbelief.
@davepl1968 Well, no, facism has tended to arise in successful capitalistic societies that have an existential crisis and become extremely warlike. More like a fascist boat has the steam engine, uniformed fanatical crew but is blown up by a coalition of enemy ships
