I’m dealing with a family emergency, so I won’t be doing broadcast interviews on the John Davidson Tourette’s tic at the BAFTAs story.
Hearing the N word shouted at two of the most successful black actors in the world, on stage at the BAFTAs and broadcast on the BBC, was horrible. It made people uncomfortable. It should have. But it was an involuntary tic from someone who lives with Tourette’s syndrome. It was not chosen. It was not intentional. It was not an expression of belief.
What’s astonishing is watching people who constantly lecture the public about inclusion suddenly abandon it the moment it becomes complicated. The same voices that demand respect for lived experience are now acting as if a neurodivergent man consciously decided to shout a slur for sport.
Tourette’s is a neurological condition. It is not a political statement. It is not a moral failing. You cannot preach DEI and then punish someone for symptoms of their neurodivergence.
Even the Royal Household has previously understood Davidson’s condition. Not even the late Queen was immune to his tics he said “F*ck the Queen” TO HER FACE. If that reality can be accepted there, it should not be beyond the rest of us.
Two things can be true at once. The word is abhorrent. The tic was involuntary. If your commitment to inclusion collapses when it involves neurodivergence, then it was never inclusion in the first place.
I have to hand it to anti-medicine influencers. They are very, very, very clever about bullshitting their audience.
Statins are a popular drug, with a low side-effect profile for most patients, which have been repeatedly shown to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, the most common cause of death in most developed countries.
So, how the hell do you argue against statins? By creating a highly specific scenario and reporting the benefit in extremely tendentious terms.
More than 90 percent of people who have a heart attack don't die of a heart attack within the next 5 years. So if you ask "how much extra life will a statin give you in those 5 years?" the answer will be small. You can make it seem like statins don't do anything by analyzing their life-saving effect within a population group that mostly isn't going to die, anyway!
The below is like saying, "if you wear a bike helmet for a year after being in a bicycle accident, it only increases your life expectancy by 19 minutes." Well ... haha, yeah! You have framed the scenario in a perfect way to make bike helmets look worthless! Very clever!
before all the trolls show up - take a statin, don't take a statin, I don't really care. The healthcare system makes way more $$$ off people needing stents and for ICU heart attack admissions, than they do with statin prescriptions.
But at least do yourself a favor and make sure you rely on accurate information before you decide.
I’ve avoided a lot of the dialogue on the sexual assault trial against the hockey players but I’ll just say, as a survivor and as someone who experienced how bad the justice system can be, I can’t think of a braver human being than EM. Sending you love and healing
Connor Murphy doing everything he can to prevent Alex Ovechkin from breaking Wayne Gretzky's record against Chicago, so he backhands the puck into his own net so Ovechkin can't.
Chess not checkers 😜 #Blackhawks
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu at the House hearing on sanctuary cities:
"If you wanted to make us safe, pass gun reforms. Stop cutting Medicaid. Stop cutting cancer research. Stop cutting funds for veterans. That is what will make our cities safe."
Mic drop!

"Black people commit 50% of violent crime and they are only 13% of the population!"
No, 50% of the people *arrested* under suspicion for violent crime are Black people.
47% of the people exonerated for being arrested under the suspicion of violent crime are Black though.
I'm 37. Instead of regretting that I can't wake up age 18 again, I pretend to myself that I'm 90 and I've woken up age 37 again, and that I get to magically, wonderfully have the next 50 years again.
This guy being like 'women be crazy' when he cheated repeatedly on his pregnant wife and notably left the hospital after their kid was born so he could go cheat some more. 😂😂
Maybe we need less men thinking with their dicks. Just an idea.
Elon Musk’s 4th baby mama - Ashley St. Clair - goes public, telling the world she had Elon’s 13th baby 5 months ago. GUARANTEE this is because of some Valentines Day drama. No amount of money in the world can stop a scorned female
It’s the year 2025 and the family of a female helicopter pilot is afraid to share their deceased hero daughter’s name with the public for fear that our current “commander in chief” will target her as the “one to blame” for the crash.
Because she is a woman.
What the actual fuck.
The same senators who shit on any proposal that Michelle Obama brought up for our kids to eat healthier in schools are now spouting the Make America Healthy again bullshit. The hypocrisy is quite staggering
