NEW: The folks who fondly remember the South Side ’90s hip-hop scene are fiercely protective when preserving their history—so much so that many continue to keep their lived experiences in mind when contributing to their communities today.

In #Chicago from grammar school to college, we’ve suffered 8 years under two neoliberal Mayors, who’ve closed our schools, closed our local mental health clinics, increased CPD’s budget & built #NoCopAcademy
Now we support #StopCopCity so ATL & other cities don’t suffer too!
The past 3 weeks we’ve participated in community care. Not just sharing #MutualAid but building trust, camaraderie & deepening relationships. We are grateful to have so many partners in our collective struggle for liberation. We keep us safe! ❤️🖤💚🫶🏾✊🏾
This week we’re keeping that same energy for #Chicago students! We’re participating in 3 #Back2School events & we want y’all to pop out!
Every event is Black led & centered in justice & healing & getting resources to our communities.
Thank you

First time attending an #inauguration and what an experience! The energy was amazing and support was felt throughout the building. A lot of talk about unity and how we are one. I’m very hopeful for these next 4 years. #BrandonJohnson#MayorBrandonJohnson
ya hypersexuality after assault is normal. if you’re going through that or have experienced that, it’s okay and very real. just want to show you support. i see you and i get it.
We knew today with the @UN was going to be heavy, traumatic & triggering but it was important to show up for our families most impacted by CPD’s violence.
Arewa leads our healing & programming for our #Roots2Wings & she lost her 16y/o Grand baby #PierreLoury in 2016 by CPD!
This Sunday @UN is visiting #Chicago as part of a national tour for the Expert Mechanism to Advance Racial Justice and Equality. They will hear testimonies from Black community members who have experienced police violence. Join us @chitorture@CAARPRNow@thewapb & more!
Thank you @ChicagoScholars for telling our @BoganBengal79 students about the great opportunities you all offer for college support and beyond. We hope to get more Young Men of Color to sign up!
Upon reflecting on what happened in downtown Chicago over the weekend, @pksmid talked to public safety experts and youth advocates who pitched ideas about preventing crime and mayhem this summer -- from paid peacekeepers to improved transportation. https://t.co/Y1BRK5ttWL
In 2019 we had a Beach party on 31st street with over 1,000 teens in attendance! No shootings & no fights happened because it was organized as a peaceful event.
Youth workers & unarmed security de-escalated any conflicts & @KeyisQueen & @KorporateCold brought the vibes!
