On this somber Saturday, may I express a few thoughts regarding the untimely passing of Pete Barakat to the family and his many friends. Pete was a one of a kind, an original who truly remained genuine and truthful to his core. No sugar coating, you got what you saw, unvarnished and direct. Pete met many challenges which by his sheer will and determination, he strove to overcome. He came to this country to seek something better than what he left behind and the opportunity to succeed, for himself and for his family. His absence will be felt by many but his memory will not be lost to those who experienced his desire, despite his protestations, to matter to the many he touched. We are all diminished by his loss.
