#globaledchat. A4. #11 is the goal my environmental science class is working on by creating action plans to develop more sustainable practices in their community as part of the @Lexus@Scholastic eco challenge this year
#GlobalEdChat A3: I stumbled over a lesson recently that built the SDG’s in and it helped students recognize ways to be more sustainable in their communities while showing them how everyone should take ownership of improving the sustainability in the world
Hello New Hampshire. I'm headed to Manchester . If you know anyone elderly, disabled, a single mom or veteran in need of their lawn mowed for FREE l, text me and I'll get it done. Looking for the lawns in the Manchester,Concord, Nashua area. Tex me at (256)-631-0346 if you have 1
A5: Absolutely! For people to really value and learn from the experience they have to have something personal into it. Development work isn’t helpful if we aren’t teaching others and just giving them a handout. #AgBookClub
A4: I think many people living subsistence lives live large portions of their life on little food- so it becomes somewhat normal. However even the poorest people can see the value of education and opportunities it brings for a better life #AgBookClub
A3: the cell phone helps get them their meal! They need that device to arrange for services and selling their product. However they don’t have data or long distance so it’s a fraction of the cost of a cell phone in the US. #flipphone#agbookclub
@macbroker@AgBookClub That’s really an interesting observation- I have seen in many developing countries that extension is often a private or for profit enterprise because the government can’t sustain it like we can in the US
@FarmKidBlog@AgBookClub@FarmKidBlog do you think extension’s rebranding to include more internet based resources is helping them gain or keep people interested? I kind of like it but was interested what others thought
@BrieDeMelo @AgBookClub I did a farmer to farmer volunteer experience in Tanzania last summer and I agree! There is tons of potential there and that is a thrilling concept when helping and seeing the farmers there realize that
A2: As an Ag educator I work hand in hand with extension agents at various events that I bring students to at the county and state level. Having a good rapport with our local agents is extremely important! #agbookclub
A1: I really liked the idea of the grassroots assistance. Even one person can make a big difference in farmers lives in an area like Africa where they have a lot to gain #AgBookClub
