@dan_cancian I like Russia 2018 as a standalone logo, but I can see how the standardisation started in 2014, so by Qatar it is getting predictable.
The 2026 logo looks ridiculous to my eyes. It does not tell me the hosts or contain any unique references to the host nations.
@Score90_ Nearly every tournament at least one big team massively underperforms and goes out earlier than expected and at least one underdog goes on a miracle run and gets much further than expected.
Picking the teams ahead of time is very hard though.
@shaunmeasom@PolitlcsUK@thetimes Total economic hit from the American and Israel war is going to outweigh extra fuel duty.
Not only has Epic Fury conspired to make Russia stronger by replenishing foreign currency reserves, it has made historic American allies weaker. Total madness 😡
@derJamesJackson Clearly a deeply ingrained world view for someone of Wadephul’s age, which is unlikely to ever change, but can only last another generation, at best.
How long can Germany still stand with Israel when Israel has no care for Germany and is damaging German interests?
@rushicrypto Would be funny if they slipped in an amendment to keep the fine at $12,000, unless your initials are JB, in which case you pay 12 billion.
I've actually come to the conclusion that the sole purpose of homework is to condition children into accepting that unpaid overtime and ridiculous hours and not even being able to escape work even in your own home are a normal things to expect in their future.
· Kraków 🇵🇱 (one of Europe's best city breaks) · Seville 🇪🇸 (still overlooked compared to Barcelona and Madrid) · Tallinn 🇪🇪 (feels like a medieval fantasy) · Mostar 🇧🇦 (one of the most unique cities in Europe) · Kotor 🇲🇪 (looks like a mini fjord city) · Bologna 🇮🇹 (somehow still overshadowed by Rome, Venice & Florence)
Add your picks to the list too
@CallumLyon Some of those prices are not due to tax at all.
What the right wing will never accept is we need to get a grip on rentierism to have a productive economy. It is a slow drag killing entrepreneurialism because no one has security.
There’s no one on Earth who needs AI slop, more data centres, or AI-assisted experience in every app, but every single human needs clean water, affordable energy, and a habitable planet.
@emilyhewertson The results at the ballot box say differently.
Gorton and Denton - Lost their deposit.
Locals - Lost 563 councillors and overall control of 6 councils.
Makerfield - Polling at 2%.
Sometimes it just hits me hard that we've created tools that scale absolute shit.
Terrible thinking, at scale
bad analysis, cheaper than ever
Terrible image, faster and further
Awful music, never far away
Fake news, but everywhere
Nasty images, but wherever you look
Everything that doesn't need to exist
Everything converging on the average
Laziness in abundance
Everything thats not good enough
Everything thats unhelpful
EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE
When your engineer finishes a session with a coding agent, they have more code than they started with and exactly the same amount of skill.
The agent produced output. It did not produce understanding.
You paid frontier prices to make your codebase bigger and your engineer no smarter. That is not an accident. It is a design choice, and it is worth remebering who it serves.
