There's no "one true" statement. What one emphasizes reveals one's values.

Yesterday, a sick man shoplifted food for him to eat from a Walgreens near where I live in Berkeley. He was unarmed, but had a "threatening chain", and was chased for blocks then cornered by several cops.

Then, apparently, they shot him in the head.

@enlightenupper @califorleanian @dailycal I do know what damage, actually. As Fedora-tier as this may sound, I trained in various MA for about a decade to fight with chains, sticks, etc. "Anything can be a weapon" was the slogan.

The cops were clearly the ones with actual weapons, not "anything can be a weapon" weapons

His "crime" was stealing food to eat. He was confused and not understanding. He was unarmed except for the "threatening chain" (no idea) and had been chased all the way to south of the campus, seemingly cornered. They then shot him in the head 🤬

@califorleanian @dailycal It gets even worse. The BSide article has more details. The crime was literally stealing FOOD. He was unarmed except for a threatening "chain" (whatever that means), and he was shot in the head while he was cornered & surrounded🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

The police have already admitted they were the ones who shot the man who had no (actual) weapons, so why say "officer-involved shooting" when you could just say "cop shoots man suspected of stealing food"?
