Psalm 115:1 is something we need to constantly tell ourselves, especially if we have any "up front" role in a church. "Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory." God is our help, and without his help, our efforts would be simply those of "motivational speakers".
Are you moved by Handel's "Messiah"? His "Hallelujah Chorus" will be as nothing compared to the glorious shouts of "Hallelujah!" that will resound in praise of God and his salvation, when the wedding of the Lamb and his bride is come. (Revelation 19)
Ps 107:2 "Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story." Personal testimony is powerful. Those who hear will either rejoice with us, glorifying God, or be silent (v42). You cannot deny it or argue against it. Can you tell the story of how God redeemed you?
To bring back the same Bill on assisted suicide is an appalling waste of Parliament's time, and proves that the single-issue pressure group behind it have learned nothing. Whipping up anger against the Lords for doing its job won't make this Bill a single bit safer.
Absolutely infuriating that one of my colleagues has decided that what Parliament should focus on in the coming months - given everything going on in the world and here at home - is bringing back the assisted dying bill. Head in hands.
