Every day, paraprofessionals and school support professionals help kids learn, grow, and thrive in our schools. Today, we thank them for all that they do. Share the graphics below to show your appreciation for paraprofessionals in your community! @PSRP_AFT
This is why ALL school staff that work in direct contact with students should be trained at minimum with verbal de-escalation and techniques to protect themselves from students when physically acting out!
On Tuesday, 2/21/23, this student violently attacked his teacher aide at Matanzas HS.
When deputies spoke with the student, he explained that he was upset because the aide took his Nintendo Switch away during class.
Student was described as 6’6”, 270 lbs

It makes me sad when a teacher assistant says “I’m just a para” when they introduce themselves to me…we CANNOT do our jobs without support staff. They are the backbones of our schools. No one is “just” anything on your staff. Make sure your support staff feel encouraged & loved.
Congratulations to all the PSU students who worked so hard in unprecedented times to raise so much for Four Diamonds and the fight against pediatric cancer. #FTK
