I said it & I'm not sorry:
“Women keep getting told to wait our turn, but we’ve been holding up this economy with unpaid caregiving well before this pandemic,” says Melissa Boteach.
We are done waiting our turn. #CareCantWait

Based on new CBO findings the number of uninsured resulting from the Senate bill is nearly 17 million -- more than the 16 million whom CBO found would lose coverage under the House bill. 🧵
When someone's local hospital closes, they won't "get over it."
When someone's nursing home closes, they won't "get over it."
When someone's kid is kicked off health care, they won't "get over it."
America, let these Republicans know you will NOT "get over" cuts to Medicaid.
Thank you @ZEROTOTHREE for delivering a "message in a baby bottle" to stand up for our littlest kids.
This former preschool teacher is throwing Trump's budget in the trash. I'm fighting for a budget that protects Head Start & builds on our investments to lower child care costs.
Among other things, it:
➡️Eliminates infant & early childhood mental health grants
➡️Cuts fresh fruits & veggies for pregnant women, infants, & children in WIC
A budget that cuts food & healthcare for babies is NOT a moral budget.
Congress must reject these cuts.
My statement on #Trumpbudget proposal for fy26, released last night:
“This budget sends a clear and devastating message that the well-being of babies and families is not a priority. This is not fiscal responsibility; it’s generational harm.”

In my first op-ed for @ZEROTOTHREE
I underscore that Medicaid, SNAP, and other supports for families “are lifelines that give kids a solid start, esp families who face extra hurdles.”
The Senate must reject these dangerous cuts.

We must turn our attention to the Senate now and demand they reject these dangerous cuts that will hurt babies, toddlers, and the families and caregivers they rely on.
Take action here:

Early this morning, the House passed a bill that would
➡️Rip healthcare and food away from millions of people through the largest ever cuts to Medicaid and SNAP,
➡️Add mountains of red tape under the guise of “work requirements” that will interrupt essential services for families
My statement is here.

As I note: “Behind the budget lines are real families whose babies will miss pediatrician’s visits, experience costly delays in accessing early screening & intervention, &feel their parents & caregivers grapple with growing stress.”
Official CBO analysis confirms the obvious: House Republican tax and budget bill isn't shared sacrifice.
It makes poor people poorer and rich people richer. It does this by cutting health care & nutrition to help finance tax cuts skewed to the wealthy.
I believe working families deserve better.
No American child should be held back from their full potential because they can’t afford food or healthcare.
Medicaid and SNAP saves lives.
Like Cole, my daughter Xiomara also relies on Medicaid to survive and thrive. So do millions of medically complex disabled children across the country. They are not numbers in a budget. Real lives are at stake.

"This proposed budget is an attack on our youngest children and the families working hard to raise them," says Chief Policy Officer @mboteach. https://t.co/buJJNsWDPN
Join us in calling for Congress to pass a budget that puts families first. https://t.co/sY936K984u
I am excited to announce that I will be joining ZERO TO THREE as their next Chief Policy Officer starting on March 31!
I am thrilled to join their team of experts & leaders to champion policies that put babies at the heart of the national conversation.

NEW: Here’s @PattyMurray & @rosadelauro blasting a new Trump OMB memo halting federal grant, loan & assistance programs. DeLauro & Murray are the top Dems on House & Senate Approved Cmtes
In Missouri, Alaska and Nebraska, where voters supported President-elect Donald Trump, they also voted to expand paid sick leave.
YES votes: 57% (MO), 58% (AK), and 74% (NE).
“Voters don’t see these as partisan issues. Voters see the minimum standards.”

Believe the words we can’t bare to hear.. Today is a day to feel our losses, deeply. This is it its own form of resistance — to feel — This is not despair, this is grief —. and grief demands our presence. It moves with us, through us. This is what it feels like to care and to love all that is vulnerable and at risk. This, too, is what Democracy looks like— to believe, to enlist our courage with a sustained focus toward justice for all; to continue to do the work that is ours. It is never over. We are here for the duration — the long view in the desert is the seedbed of inspiration. The revolution is ours, it isn’t what we thought it would be — but transformation comes in unexpected forms. We will meet this moment with the gifts that are ours — and we will take care of each other — and not look away — This is not the end, nor the beginning, it is the truth of our lives. Our power lies in our capacity to keep loving and engaging with this beautiful, broken world. We can no longer look for leadership beyond ourselves. If we are present. we will know what to do.
By your side. One day at a time. Here.
